Ardern taking 6 weeks off from work due to maternal reasons and being liberal in regards to motherhood in a political setting was a grand inspiration to many mothers worldwide. She paved the way for women, especially mothers, in politics and showed the world that motherhood should not be a hinderance. However, her place as a political figure has raised multiple unwanted comments, especially from men, how women are expected to do ‘minor’ tasks, such as cooking and cleaning. Her position in power has been considered as liberating for women.
