When I was just a kid, I remember sitting on the floor, legs crossed with some travel books in my lap. These books were called " The wonders of the world". In fact, the person who bought them was my father, who really taught me to love them. This books had superb photos of marvelous and lovely settings . I was really fascinated by them and I spent hours and hours looking at and reading them, one after another.
The place that impressed me the most was The Budda of Kamakura.
My mind was flying throughout these books to every distant places of the world, where one day I could see them with my own eyes. These dreams have always been with me.
Ten years ago I had the chance to visit Japan. It was an incredibly fascinating country with a very ancient and traditional culture, religion and architecture. Besides, the kindness and the smile of its people really captivated me.
When I visited The Great Buda of Kamakura, its majesty, the amazing leafy landscape, surrounded by a spiritual and magical atmosphere, made me realize the power of dreams. In these moments, face to face with the Great Budda, I felt that my dream had come true.
In life there is nothing impossible if you believe in your dreams.

Rosa Maria Sanromà

Summer, six years ago, I traveled through the stunning and incredibly Indonesian Islands with some friends. We spent a week in Lombok, and island east of Bali, but less famous than its neighbour. Lombok offered us fantastic nature spots on which we could find a large awe-inspiring waterfall, which is called Tiu Kelep.

We decided to book a guide just to assure we would get the destination and to learn more information about the zone, as well. We started a forty-five-minute hike through the deep-jungle where we got extremely scared by monkeys. Our guide told us to be careful because they used to be aggressive food thieves.

As we arrived, safe and sound, I laid my eyes on the uniquely breathtaking waterfall and I was overwhelmed. It was one of the most dramatic falls I’ve ever seen ever in my life. Water flowed down, seemingly through the wall. The powerful force of the main flow raised a freshly pleasant breeze which appeased the tremendously stifling heat of the zone.

We swam in the pool beneath the waterfall and it was a great, peaceful peppy moment for me during the trip. The water was crystal clear and had a blue tinge.

Definitely, this was an amazing unforgettable experience I will always remember.

María José Hernández Simón

When I got off the coach I was absolutely captivated by the magical and mysterious panorama of St. Andrews castle ruins. The old stones remind me of the Scottish history. Besides, the greyish sky was reflected in the crystalline water in contrast with the lively colours of grass and flowers.
On the whole, it made a perfect and impressive lanscape.
Marga Cirach

I went to visit it after more than 40 years since I moved out. However, it was as if time hadn’t passed, I had the same feeling of yesteryear when I entered my old dwelling place: the smell of wood from my father's workshop. The house was completely renovated, but… oh surprise! A vestige of my time remained: the marble kitchen sink, which nowadays had been put in the laundry room. To sum up, I had a lot of feelings and it was a very enjoyable and exciting experience.
Maite Martin

A few years ago I was traveling to Cádiz down the coast. It was in the month of August, and I remember that summer as the hottest and heaviest summer we've ever had. I was traveling in my van, and every day I woke up in an incredible different beach. They were all very busy, with extended families and curious tourists, but suddenly, out of the blue, one day I discovered the most beautiful petite lovely deserted scluded beach I have ever seen. I never imagined that I could find a beach that no one knew about.
I arrived on a long dark and starry night, and when the burning intense rays of the sun woke me up and I could see the place clearly, I thought I was on "Mars".
The thick warm sand was melted between large beautiful robust stones. The deep crystalline sea made me feel at the end of the world while the silver round full moon of the silent dark night, together with its bright fleeting stars, made me feel accompanied.
I wouldn´t know how to return to that magnificent extraordinary and unforggetable place, but I will always keep its essence in my heart.

It was an outstanding and hilarious experience that I will always vividly remember.

I still remember not also, the serene skies filled with soft white clouds that cloak the majestic and radiant sun and the breeze in my cheeks still cool and moist due to the fine but penetrating rain that accompanied us all the day. But also, the colour of the leaves on the floor like a brown carpet laid out on the streets. Welcoming us to that breathtaking medieval city.

Prague has colossal modern skyscrapers designed by modern and well-known architects, but on the contrary this city also has picturesque and well-made castles and bridges that take you to a fantasy and fairytale world.
Stunning landscapes that make us think of distant countries, may be. Indescribable smells, fragrances that caress our senses, perhaps. New, strident, rhythmic sounds, like that bell ringing in the distance, no doubt. all this is in our desire for discovery, visualization, conquest. Usually. However, that distant landscape can be located very close to us, being just a feeling rather than an arrival in itself to that dreamed goal, in remote and charming places. This landscape could be a beach in Brazil or Mexico, but it is really much closer, I leave it to you to discover where it is.

It was a peaceful and sunny spring morning and I was hiking with my dad. We had traveled from Barcelona to the south of Portugal by car accompanied by the whole family. But on that special morning we were alone - the rest of the group was still having breakfast in the hotel.

My father is especially interested on brazilian history, and since we were in Portugal the comom and more obvious subject of our conversations were about the portuguese colonizations and the so-called “discovery” of Brazil. To be sincere I don't find much joy on the subject, but that day something almost magical happened.

While walking through the yellow rocks on the stunning coast of Carvoeiro and talking about history, we were feeling very distant from any civilization - or at least from any civilization of this century. And in one of those moments, as we were traveling in time and space, we saw a gigantic glamorous portuguese caravel, just like we used to see at the old History books we read at school. Such a timing, such a coincidence! It was exhilarating!

We knew, in the racional corner of our brains, that it was just a fake replica for touristic trips. But in the context, it was a marvellous touch of destiny that turned an already enjoyable moment into an unforgettable one.

Aline Cesario Matoso

It was the second time that I visited the most beautiful and breathtaking country I have ever seen.
This picture was taken in the spectacular Skógafoss, one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a drop of some 62 meters. Situated in the south of Iceland, two hours away from the capital, you can walk right up to the waterfall and be prepared for the overwhelming sensation and to be drenched.
At the moment we took the picture we were alone and it was very peaceful surrounded by bright green vegetation and crystal icy water. I remember it was very cold, but it was one of the few days that we were able to enjoy the rays of the sunlight.

For me this photo captures the essence of Iceland: an unspoilt country with some beautiful and picturesque landscapes what makes you think you are in another world. I just hope it continues like this.

This photo is from the month of July… 1990. It corresponds to a scientific-amateur trip we made with the AAS (Sabadell Astronomical Group) to observe the total eclipse of the Sun in Joensu, Finland. Aside from the time of the eclipse, which was a bit disappointing because, just at the time of the totality, there were a few clouds that prevented the observation, some people of the expedition continued our journey to the North Cape, to Norway. The photo is a bit blurry because a persistent fog (and a cold winter as it was in Barcelona) deprived us of a clear view of the Arctic Ocean.

Its awe-inspiring, stylized, shape always draws my attention.
When Macba arranged a Plensa exhibition I knew I had to go, and for me it was a real awakening to the artist’s work which has an undeniable connection between the pair of opposites, light and darkness, silent and sound, time and space.
I was in a Macba’s soundproof room where people could play that gong which made a majestic resounding sound. The more vibrating was the sound the deeper the silent was. You know, sound and silent.

Josep Calmell

In summer 2019 I travelled alone to this hypnotizing tradicional colourful country called Bolivia. I have never visited any wonderful southamerican country and I had no idea of what I could expect, so I had a huge but nice surprise when I arrived there and I felt like at home.
People were so happy-go-lucky, very friendly and funny with very good intentions. In Barcelona, my lifelong catalan friends had ordered me not to walk alone in a shabby narrow streets but I did not have any single unexpected problem during the month I spent there!

This picture is from El Alto, which is a sprawilng peaceful new city near to La Paz, the bustling, scenic huge old capital. In fact, the ramshakle big airport of La Paz is actually there. El Alto is amazingly 4150 meters in height, so feeling altitude sickness is quite normal for innocent new tourists. I remember how cold it was, that eventhough the indigenous people were used to it, they made huge but controlled fires on the street to warm themselves. I was totally overwhelmed for their calmness, and also for their unspoilt culture, their beautiful and historic large old coloured ropes and their huge respect for the "Pachamama", the mother Earth.

I felt I when I was there I missed nothing else, so I recomend everybody to spend some time in this awe-inspiring lovely country.

Alba Ramírez
