In the article, the author states that the cows are not a waste of water, she proves that by going to a farm to make sure that they don't really drink 1800 gallons of water. Instead, she finds out that at that farm, the cows drink 36 gallons of water. She also then found out that there are different types of water that they could be using. They could be using green water or blue water instead. At the end of this paragraph, the author then claims that they don't think that the cows are a waste of water. Thus concluding that thought that beef doesn't waste water.

It seems like beef uses a lot of water but if beef didn't have that much water what would beef be then? In the text it says " It's often said in studies that it takes 1,800 gallons of water". don't get me wrong I can see where people come from if their saying beef wastes water but at the same time what would you swap out the water with? The author states that she doesn't think that beef is a waste of water because beef uses only 1% of drinking water.

That is a lot of water per every pound. But at the same time beef are big animals and they are a big source of food. Chicken and pork use less total water compared to beef. So yes it does take a lot of water to produce beef.

The article says, that 441 gallons of water are used per pound of beef, this number shows how much water is used for out biggest food source. A huge amount of the world water is being used for beef, but the beef is also one of our biggest food sources in the world and helps so many people.

There is also blue water where the animals get the water from natural sources. In the article is states "... beef uses a lot of blue water" This shows that the beef are using a lot of natural sources but are using them for good needs. What else are you going to use the water for? Beef need water to drink, food ,bath and many more. I think they could maybe try less water, but they're using the best the can.

In the article Modern chemical pesticides, the gist is we need chemical pesticides to grow crops and produce food. Farmers are going to have to have to cut down forest so they have room for their crops so they can keep up with producing food for everyone is the coming years. The article also states that 50% of wheat, 70% for corn, and 80% of rice is lost to pests, that's all food that we could be eating. SO all in all we need chemical pesticides to keep producing food.

This shows that chefs and farmers are trying to change people on what they think. And that the food the is pro polyface is better for you than non polyface. One way they did this is by having to re-grow a lot of things so the environment wouldn't be getting worse. Another thing is when they told us the comments, "This is the chicken I remember from my childhood . It actually tastes like chicken," there are many more that are positive like this. The last reason I think is that when they cracked the egg in the pan, when it didn't really move in the pan and the yolk was bright yellow they were all amazed. They said this was because of the way they grow there grass.

Their last reason is because of the diet the cows and chickens have, the byproduct is the food tasting better.

The reason why is that in the article it states " These people were paying higher price for polyface food, and in many cases driving more than an hour to come get it." "The chef called his staff over to admire the bright orange color of the yolk." These quotes help support that we should buy food from ployface.

This can be like with the rice. The rice would be tampered with so they can survive the floods and be able to grow and thrive. The corn can be much safer with the modification too, it can be in less danger of getting pesticides. In th last paragraph, the author states that even though the modified food might be better, they might not work all of the time, they might just be the answer to some of our future problems.

Scientist are trying to find different DNA's so mix with corn, wheat, rice and others crops around the world. They are doing this becuase it is believed that it will help the world in the long run. For example lots of the crops are being lossed to sever weather, floodings, and disease. Also climate warming and pests are a big part of it to. But scientist and people are trying to find a solution to all the problems. The author is supporting this becuase he states "There is no magic fix to climate change and no sure-fire way to make agriculture more sustainable, but GM crops are helping farmers to adapt to the issues and presented by climate change." This quote shows that the author is supporting this solution the problem.

The gist of this article "GMO's" is that GMO crops have many good impacts on healthy food availability and growth but also has some negative impacts. For example the author writes "This is important because much food supply depends on many animals eating corn. Also, corn is used in many other food products." This quote shows that GMOs is needed to produce more food. The author also writes "GMO canola oil has fewer trans fats than regular canola oil...This means that GMOs may actually increase people's access to healthy food." But there are some negative effects too, for example in the essay it says "Cattle in feedlots are fed corn because it fattens them quickly. However, corn is not their natural food...Their corn-based diet..makes them ill."

Then they start to talk about how the GMO's influence our healthy food and how they help with the pesticides and the pests that they could be saving the food from. In the 3rd paragraph, they talk alot about how the GMO's are decreasing our healthy food and how they are making it so that we don't get all of our healthy food and how even though GMO's can be good for you, they can also be very bad. The last paragraph is how the are non-GMO people.

CSA's get people more nutritious food because if people get food closer to the time the food was harvested, there's more healthy vitamins in the food. CSA's also help with using less fossil fuels because the farm are closer to the consumer, causing shipments to not have to use as much fossil fuels.
