I was born in the city of Braganca Paulista, at the date of 19 of April of 2002. It’s the place where I spend my childhood, had my first friendships, developed roots, for 14 years.

Braganca was a hot city, located at the interior of the state of Sao Paulo.

It’s a city with more of 150 thousand habitants, and can be considered a dormitory city for other bigger metropolis that are situated near it, (Ex. Campinas, Sao Paulo.), it’s a city famous for its closed, house residential condominium’s.

Sao Paulo is a state that’s marked by having the most populated metropolis of Brazil, containing more of them 10 Milion of habitants, meaning that all the cities nearby run-on function of this bigger metropolis, known as the “concrete jungle”.

Culturally, Sao Paulo has the characteristic of being able to find anything you can possibly imagine, but the major culture that mark the state of Sao Paulo for such big metropolis, is the street culture.

But our topic is about Braganca Paulista, which is just a small city compared to Sao Paulo, and remarkable by its beautiful houses, the city contained many major figures from distinct areas, that would just have summer houses at the city, our live there.

Because of that the city was marked by the street culture that’s characteristic of Sao Paulo, but since it was a state that contained many people with money, the isolation of the richer on the closed condominiums, and the social division on the city was evident.

Me as a kid, my parents worked with a rehab clinic, in the rural area, 40 minutes away from the city, which would put me in a constant social convivence with whatever people independent of their financial situation, different of many of my friends, which also lived in huge houses, would go to closed clubs (which where necessary very expensive memberships), study in particular schools, wouldn’t have contact with.

But it was funny how the street culture influence was present, independently of the social class.

What was a shock when I later, for problems with my parents’ clinic, needed to move for a different city, in a different state.

Pocos de Caldas is a city situated in a completely different place both geographically, as culturally when compared to Braganca, since it’s situated in a different state, it has a completely different influence culturally, marked by a country culture. Pocos de Caldas is situated where what was once an active Vulcan, but today already extinct, what brings to the city, a much colder climate when talking about a Tropical country such as Brazil. What also influences the culture. But the city is the closest city in the state of Minas Gerais, to Sao Paulo, with 260km of distance.

Since I lived the rest of my life in another city, when I moved, since it was not voluntary, the shock with how different things was, where a thing that took me some time to adapt, but that later became one very important tool on my life, the ability to adapt.

Since the culture was turned much more to the country, street culture didn’t had nothing to do with that, which made me notice I wouldn’t understand many of the rituals my friends would love to do, from the local culture, but that with time I learned it’s meanings, and started to also enjoy it, to the point where today is part of the culture I bring on my life experience “backpack”.

The city was known by being a touristic city, by its famous casinos built in the 20’s, thermal waters, provided by the extinct Vulcan, and it’s medicinal properties.

Related to the culture, my friends would love things such as playing cards, drinking a beer, play some traditional country songs in the guitar, spend the weekend in the nature, go out at night, enjoying your time with friends, doing barbecues, dinners, spend a lot of time talking, and the rest of it, laughing.

Might seem what most people do normally on a daily basis, but the characteristically traits of it are something that cannot be explained in words.

It’s a place I have a strong affect for, since it’s the place I still consider “home”, and where I spent my whole teenagerhood, created roots, and learned pretty much everything I know today about myself.

But that was still not my last stop…
