Choosing the right type of gaming device
Literacy activities

Reading appropriate/relevant information on the types of gaming such as portable/handheld gaming and home gaming.

Understand basic terminology of the gaming hardware and software. A lot of new gamers are not so literate unlike those who know the terms of what makes up a computer gaming system.

Read the game reviews from magazines. This is where we the readers would feel if we do agree with the magazine review or have a different opinion as we if we have all the same opinion then it's pointless.

Learn the basic console setup. If new to gaming, this is done in a simple format and helps a lot of people. As for those who are big gamers, they would be more complex.

Numeracy activities

Look at the prices of console types and PC gaming included.

Create a price comparison and look at the positives and negatives for each.

Create a financial budget suitable for the chosen option.

If can't afford a newer model, look at other options such as second hand stores such as CEX. In our current climate, not many people can afford a fresh new games console as prices can range from five hundred to six hundred pounds and when building a gaming PC its very expensive to get new hardware. So places like CEX are the best way to get these at affordable price.

Digital activities

Watch gaming video replays is a great way to look back on previous gaming performance and what gamers can do to be better for the next level or chapter of the game.

Look at the controller setup to remember which button represents the corresponding action. For game consoles controller setup also assists you especially for tutorials.

How gaming and literacies are incorporated for children and adults for educational purposes
Literacy activities
Literacy gaming is a great way to build up literacy especially when it comes to understanding the story background. These are done through a narrative visual representation. This is done through creative writing process.
Numeracy activities
The numeracy activities when it comes to gaming and numeracy scoring points in a sports game such as FIFA, NHL MADDEN NFL. These are examples when we try and score points to beat the team by point differences.

Another example of numeracy and education is a time attack. This is commonly used in the motorsport/racing games where they would beat times that were originally completed. In Formula one game series the time attack is designed to beat the score but in the graphic form of numeracy it would be known as a ghost or copy shown in the form of an another car.

Digital activities
According to Kalantzis and Cope (2022) The students play the central main character in a game in an identity that allows them to understand what choices they make and what can happen later on in the game.

An example of this is Life is Strange where you are being made to make complex choices that can determine the outcome of the central characters.

Minecraft is one of the most popular choice for digital activities. Engineering for Kids (2013) explains that Minecraft teaches different lessons and improves kids skills in different disciplines such as programming, art, geography, mathematics as well as normal literacy language too.
