Many of you probably use this website already, but kids really enjoy playing review games through Kahoot! I have also had students create their own review Kahoot for other kids to play before tests. Allowing students to create the games calls for a deeper level of thinking and then they get to play what their peers create!

TED-Ed via YouTube

I love to supplement my lessons, conduct bell-ringers, or show quick "refresher" clips through short YouTube videos. TED-Ed's channel has a ton of great videos and I have used many of them in my Social Studies class. As always, make sure you preview any videos yourself before showing kids. Although they are usually completely fine for students, every once in a while I've came across one that makes a reference or shows an image that's not necessarily appropriate for the classroom.

Ducksters

Ducksters is a great website for students to use while researching history topics or completing web-quest type activities. The site even has content-related games and quizzes for students. The main Ducksters site also has web pages for other subjects, including Science and Math. Although a lot of sites can be used for researching and reviewing these topics, Ducksters does a great job of streamlining the information in a way that is easily understandable and age-appropriate for my sixth-graders.

A colleague suggested this grading app to me years ago and I have swore by it ever since. Through this app and corresponding website, you can create quizzes or tests that can be printed out as a bubble sheet. You use your phone to quickly scan and grade the sheets. Each student's answers are recorded and the data can be reviewed - showing most missed questions per class, which students missed which questions, what the most commonly chosen answers were, etc., etc. There are drawbacks, as written responses cannot be graded through the app - but for the needs of my class (and the manner in which state testing will be conducted for my subject) the app works great! There is a free version that is somewhat limiting, but the full price version is something like $7 a year and has been well worth it to me.

Grammarly

I know that we're flooded with ads for this website, but it has been a lifesaver throughout this program. Since I began using Grammarly for my course work, I quickly started using it for emails, creating assignments, contacting parents, etc. I love the way that it catches mistakes and makes suggestions to improve my writing. I find it important for a school leader to be able to communicate in a clear, error free manner with their staff, students, and stakeholders. That's why I'll continue to utilize this program well after graduation in August. I have not introduced it to my students as of yet, but that is certainly an intriguing concept as many of them are desperately lacking in grammar skills.
