         <description><![CDATA[<div>Materials:&nbsp; hot pack, cold pack, glass or jar, plate.<br>o &nbsp; Identify a facilitator – person who is the shortest</div><div>o &nbsp; One person should not activate their hot or cold pack.</div><div>o &nbsp; What is the temperature of the 'cold pack' before activation and after? &nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Person who doesn’t activate packs - Cut open the bag and separately place the contents in a glass/jar or a plate.&nbsp; Take out the disk. &nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Observe the crystals.&nbsp; Is there anything you notice or think makes one ‘hot’ and one ‘cold’? with your finger to determine 'hot or cold'. &nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Then add a tsp. of water and observe what happens. &nbsp;</div><div>o&nbsp; &nbsp; 'Where' is the coldness or hotness?</div>]]></description>

         <title>Discussion #3 Engineering Design</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Materials:&nbsp;</strong></div><div>§&nbsp; Two thick books or small boxes</div><div>§&nbsp; Paper</div><div>§&nbsp; Tape</div><div>§&nbsp; Coins or other small, heavy objects to use as weights (small rocks, nuts and bolts, etc.)</div><div><strong>Procedure</strong></div><div>§&nbsp; Place your books about 10 inches apart.</div><div>§&nbsp; Lay a single piece of paper across the books.</div><div>§&nbsp; Place a penny in the middle of the paper. What happens? If the "bridge" does not collapse, try adding more pennies.&nbsp;</div><div>§&nbsp; Fold the piece of paper in half lengthwise, and try again. Does the bridge hold more pennies this time?</div><div>§&nbsp; Experiment with different folds until you find a design that will hold more than one layer of pennies or the equivalent. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>
