My class is anchored in a discussion of the aesthetics, histories, and experiences that inform afrofuturism, but I will try to frame as an occasion to also think through other cultures/heritages through similar frames to Afrofuturism such as latino-futurism, asian futurism etc and how they re-imagine these speculative/aesthetic traditions in similar and different ways. I am currently rethinking the presentation component of the class to serve this purpose, letting them present on an example of such cultural and generic intersections that come from their own spheres of experiences and interestes.
