Creating a Protocol for Scholars in Breakout rooms communicating with other scholars who might be tough. The scholar with the working mic would respond verbally to the written responses made in the chat not solely respond by typing a written response. The rationale here is that in breakout rooms, only responding via the chat can decrease the level of engagement on both sides.

The chat waterfall ensures everyone is sharing an original thought.

When they have an interesting idea or something notable happens during the day, I write it in the document. At the end of the semester I am able to weave together the anecdotes to write a personalized “glow and grow” comment that feels truly personalized to the scholar instead of generic statements that apply to large portions of the class.

The screen share feature and allowing scholars to annotate has also been really effective when we've been able to use it, but we haven't used it extensively since not all scholars have the capability (you can't annotate if you are using the app on your phone, I think).

A way I've come to enjoy replicating some of this improv-reflection has been by adding 1-minute reflections in the middle of class, whether about a specific CWG issue that has come up (1 minute revisions) or about more open-ended questions (1 minute reflections on the effect of a technique, e.g.)

We push them to think back to concrete moments where they felt the most proud of themselves in class and then push them to think to the "why" behind it. We also want to use the report card comments to drive what Scholars can choose to apply and focus on in the fall semester.
