1. The Kokoda trail is in Papua New Guinea. It starts in Owers Corner and end in Port Moresby.

2. Australia was involved in the battle of Kokoda because the Japanese army next target is obviously Australia, so in order to stop them Australians fought to stop the Japanese in their track. Australia is also part of the Allied and Papua New Guinea was also part of the Australian’s territory. This was significant bad it was a turning point for the Allied in the battle of the Pacific.

3. Japan code of honour is to die for your country in battles, while the Diggers fighting style is different as it’s more cautious and upfront. The Japanese put a lot of pride on their life as soldiers who is serving their countries, so they were somewhat more determine. The Diggers show more bonding between each other, as teamwork contributed to their cautious combat style.

4. The Japanese was interested in the Port Moresby, and wanted to take controlled of it as this would give them control of Papua, and a base from which to attack the Australian mainland and shipping in the Pacific.

5. I think Australia was in danger of a Japanese invasion as, Papua is very close to Australian and it was also one of its colony. With Japan rapid expansion and strong army, it is very like that Australia was in danger of an invasion. Jane Japanese attempt of taking Papua was a sign as it showed how they will it use it as a base to land their attacks in Australia.

6. This dairy showed the feelings and hardships that an Australian soldiers faced during the battle of Kokoda. It show us the determination of the soldiers and how the inexperience of his knowledge led to struggles. This was created by an Australian soldiers and it is a Primary source. It was written in his perspective and how he felt towards the campaign. The source was created in 1942 during the battle of Kokoda between the Japanese and Australian army. The target audience was either himself or he wrote it knowing that someone would read it once the war was over. This source was made so he can keep the memories of going to war, or so he can read it when he is old. Or he could’ve created it because he know that someone will read it after the war ended, and his diary would goes down in history as an artefact.
