Each student MUST be given a durable chromebook case to protect it, and we need to have very specific care “rules” that we practice with the students at the beginning of the year and reinforce throughout the year. The amount of $ that the district is spending to fix chromebooks that shouldn’t have been damaged in the first place is astounding. Invest in cases! Develop a system for tracking damages and then hold students/parents accountable. (Obviously some students won’t be able to afford to pay for damages and those should be dealt with case-by-case basis.)

Additionally, every teacher should be given at least one charger per type of chromebook (for example, at our school we have two types of chargers needed, so each teacher should get two). It is an absolute daily hassle for students to scramble to find a charger. I purchased two chargers with the money given to me by the district, which I shouldn’t have had to do.
