I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 by Lauren Tarshis

This book is about the true events that happened during the shark attacks of 1916, but the author took the victims from the true events and turned what happened to them into a story. The story is about a boy named Chet who was constantly moving around then his parents let him move in with his uncle down in by the Jersey shore to help him with his diner. Chet makes friends with boys who play pranks on him like any average teenage or younger boy would, but Chet plays a prank on them and they think he took it to far so they befriend him for a while. There were papers going around talking about sharks killing swimmers but no one believed it because it was very unlikely that a shark attacked a human. Chet then goes swimming one day and a shark grazed his leg trying to bite him, but no one would believe him due to the prank he pulled and because it was unheard of for a shark to be in a freshwater river. I can't give no more spoilers, but the book is on overdrive or any other site that carries online books. I personally liked the book because sharks are cool and have some characteristics that no other animal has. The book was fun to read because it was and still is unheard of for a shark to be in a freshwater river. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sharks.

The stories include Perseus, Psyche, Phaethon, Otrera, Daedalus, Theseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, Cyrene, Orpheus, Hercules, and Jason. The cool thing about it is that you can see the difference from 60 years ago when a car had a whole different body style such as the Chevrolet Camaro. I like this book because it has so many different cars that i would love to own or see in real life. I recommend this book to anyone who likes cars or just likes seeing older things vs newer things.

This book is a memoir by Ron Hall detailing his friendship with a homeless man named Denver Moore. Denver Moore was born in Louisiana, where he worked as a sharecropper until he hopped a train and moved to Texas. (Denver was basically still a slave to someone) Ron Hall was a modest soup salesman, but he became a rich, successful art dealer because of this he grew accustomed to a lavish lifestyle. However, his wife, Debbie, becomes deeply involved in charity work, and she introduces him to Moore. Despite their many differences, Hall and Moore strike up what is hoped to be a kindling friendship.

The thing I loved most about this book was even though Ron and Denver are from two different worlds, Debbie brought them together in the most beautiful way. I couldn't say there was anything in particular that I didn't like.

Stricken with grief, the book follows Lennon through her journey with grief. The book is filled with enlightenment, understanding, and its fair share of misunderstandings.

I personally had mixed feelings about the book. On one hand, the book does an excellent job of portraying the stages of grief, and how it affects someone's life and way of thinking. But on the other hand, the characters feel very trope based, as well as just being unlikable. The main character is fine for the first half, but later on, she grows more and more confusing with her choices.

416 words
The book starts off with the main character, Audrey, struggling with the relationship between her father, herself, and her uncle. She wishes to go study under her uncle, who is an expert in autopsy and criminal investigation, but her father forbade it because the time period they live in is especially strict towards female independence. Sneaking off to study against her fathers wishes, she meets her partner in crime, and potential love interest, Thomas Cresswell. Together, they spend their time in the book working on a case on the infamous killer, "Jack the Ripper."

I personally loved this book, and the characters. Audrey is a good mix of independent, while still being in touch with her feminine and emotional side. A lot of "strong" female protagonists feel cheap because they take the easy way out and consider emotional unavailability and masculine features to be strong. However, I feel like Audrey is a nice case of a good female main character being portrayed as strong and self driven. I also love her relationship with Thomas. The both of them bounce off each other amazingly, and they're very entertaining, but still work well together in more serious settings. Thomas is a nice rock to Audrey, while still allowing her to be free and make her own decisions.

The Hunger Games have passed, and Katniss’s and Peeta’s lives have changed substantially as they are now rich. Katniss returns home from the woods one day to find President Snow waiting for her. He’s concerned that any more public defiance of the Capitol by Katniss, like her and Peeta’s threat of suicide at the end of the Hunger Games, could spark an uprising in the districts. Every twenty-five years, a special Hunger Games occur, The Quarter Quell, and this year is the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Games. In the announcement, President Snow says the tributes will be selected from among the past winners of the Games. Since Katniss is the only female winner of District 12, it means she’s going back into the arena. Plutarch has for years been part of a secret rebel group, and many of the tributes were involved in a plot to bring down the force field around the island so they could escape. When Peeta was kidnapped, brainwashed and tortured by the Capitol
What they cut out of her arm was a tracking device. Several of the districts are now in a full-scale revolt, and their hovercraft is headed to District 13, which was supposed to have been obliterated.

I love everything about this book, i think its better than the first one. Landon would be described as a bad boy and he would bully Jamie who was the minister's daughter. When Jamie has to help Landon, Landon starts to fall for Jamie. Jamie told him not to fall in love with her but he did. He found she had a really bad medical condition. He was told she didn't have long left so they got married and then she passed away. What I liked about this book was that Jamie was such a sweet girl and that she realized she also liked Landon.
