There is a tenager named Davontae Stanford who has been put in prison for the murder of four people in a drugstore. Four years later, he was proven to be innocent. It is a bit similar to Steve's case because it involves a drugstore and a murder, the suspected person is a teenager, like Steve. But instead of going to prison, unlike Davontae, Steve was proven innocent.

After hearing Bobo's testimony, O'brien told Steve that it hurt them a lot. She then talked to Steve about other things like King's, lawyer, Asa Briggs, who is trying to connect them because Steve looks pretty decent. He asked her if they were going to lose, she said no, but he doesn't believe her. Steve was really scared and anxious realises that everone in jail is trying to convince themselves that they are going to be okay when they are not. A few days later, Dorothy Moore, King's cousin went on the stand. She said that he bought her a lamp the day of the robbery, but couldn't prove it. Then was the turn of George Nipping, a man that has known King since a very long time. Briggs tried to prove King's innocence by saying that since he is left handed, the wound should have been on the right side, wich is a weak argument. Later, O'brien trained Steve to answer questions the right way by turning a cup because she wants him to take the stand and explain his side of the crime. Steve them takes the stand and answers Petrocelli's questions. After, George Sawicki, the man who took care of the film club Steve was in said that Steve is a bright and honest young man. Later, it is the turn of the lawyers to sum up their defense. In his defense, Briggs says that King was wrongly accused and that they shouldn't believe Bobo's testimony because they can't trust him. He also said that Henry only recognized him because the police men tricked her into doing it. Then O'brien summed up Steve's defense by saying that he wasn't involved in the robbery and she tried to put as much distance in between him and people like King by saying that they just talk about basketball and that it isn't a crime. He also did not get anything from the robbery, wich makes him even less involved. Next was Petrocelli, who said that an innocent man, Mr. Nesbitt, was killed in a brutal way and didn't deserve it. She said that even if Steve was just a lookout, they should all be equally guilty because they took away someone's freedom. A few days later, they receive the verdicts. King is guilty and got 25 years to life. Steve is innocent. Even if he was proven innocent, O'brien still seems to believe he is guilty because she turns away when he tried to hug her and his father is putting more and more distance in between them. His life continued and he enjoyed filming himself and making movies. But he is still troubled by O'brien's and his father's reactions. He wonders what they see when they look at him.
