The book I chose was The Cure to the Common Universe by Christian McKay Heidicker. I chose the book because whenever I read the first few pages of the book, I wanted to know what happened next, and because all my other options were taken. I like that the main character is going through all these challenges so he can leave video game rehab by Thursday. It’s fun reading about all the things that he’s willing to do in order to get out and go on a date with the girl he met. This is the first time I’ve ever read a book like this. Miles Prowers (The main character) needs a million points to leave, and at the part I’m currently reading, he only has about 500,000. So, I still don’t know if he’s even going to get out on time, or if he’s going to stay in rehab and miss his date on Thursday. I predict that he will get out in time, but there might be a conflict with the people he met in rehab. They might not want him to leave because of all the good times they had together and that they see him as a true friend. So, I’m thinking that he will have an internal conflict on whether he should leave rehab, or stay with the people that he met there. That is my prediction on what will happen at the end of the book. My only option is to keep reading and find out what happens!

I just finished the book and I must say, that was a ride. There were so many twist and turns that after each page, I couldn’t stop reading. I had to know what happened next or I would be left hanging, wondering what was going to happen when I got back to the book. The book really takes a turn near the end of the book, when something happens to Jaxon’s date he was going after. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who wants a funny, sort of action filled, awesome book. I enjoyed reading the book from start to end. There is not much left for me to say, but I started to read a new book, called Numbers by Rachel Ward. It’s about a girl who can see the dates of people’s deaths above their head. I’m already at about page 100 and I must say, one of the most interesting and action filled books I have read so far. So many things happen in the beginning of the book, a lot of characters are established and that leaves you thinking, “Please don’t let this character be close to their death date.” I’m assuming further on in the book, she will use her power either for good or for bad. She might try to save someone that she likes, or she might die trying. She could probably try to prevent some major accident but either fail or succeed in the process, causing those people to die anyway. It’s a very interesting premise for a book and I can’t wait to keep reading it.

So, I’m nearing the end of the book, and I have to say, this book is an amazing piece of work. It really is a page-turner and you keep wanting to know what happens page after page. I feel like the premise of the book, a person who can see the dates of people’s deaths, could be a really big thing if it was real and it existed in todays society. If the person who had the ability were to come out to the news or something, and then prove that their power is real, they could because famous worldwide. For example, that person could tell the dates of celebrity’s deaths so then people don’t have to get sad when someone famous dies unexpectedly. People would already know that celebrity’s death date months or years in advanced. And then the celebrity in general could know how much time they have left, and then make the most out of what time they have left. They just found out they’re going to die in a week? Then travel around the world, have parties, do what you have always wanted to do in that one week you have left, knowing that you lived a good life, and that you would be ready to pass on when that time comes. I’m really just rambling, but I really like the idea that this book is based on and I think it would be pretty interesting if there was a person in real life who had the same power.

Ok, so I just finished the book yesterday and I have to say, one of the best books I’ve ever read. The plot was engaging, the premise was intriguing, the characters were simple, and the story was easy to follow. I wish that the person who died didn’t die, because the reason they died was really stupid, and I think that their death could have been easily preventable. That’s just my opinion, but it was really frustrating to see a character just go like that. I wish that maybe their death were to have a little more meaning then just going splat. What I really like about this book is how the main character handles her situation. If she ever tells anyone about her power, she never tells them their death date because she thinks it’s wrong to tell them. She never accepts any deals with people to become famous or anything and tells everyone that she made it up in order to get everyone to stop bothering her. It was an okay way to deal with it, but I think that she could’ve done more with the power that she has. Maybe something like setting up and booth somewhere and people will pay you a lot of money, and then you would tell them the day they died. That way, it wouldn’t feel wrong because the people paying for it want to find out and they NEED to find out. She could become rich and famous, but I know that the actual Jem wouldn’t even think about doing this.

The book I decided to read next is Bird Box by Josh Malerman. From the pages I’ve read, already I have to say it really puts me in suspense and leaves me wondering, “What’s going to happen next?” The main character, Malorie, has two children and at the pare I’m at, they’re trying to escape the creatures, blindfolded. I actually really like the premise of the book, that there are creatures outside that if you look at them, you’ll go crazy and kill yourself. I also really like how the book alternates story lines, by talking about the current time with Malorie and her two children, then talk about to when Malorie was pregnant with the first kid and the while creature situation just broke out. It’s really fascinating learning about the whole situation in the very beginning and then flipping back the next chapter to Malorie in the present day. I predict that Malorie will make it to the place they’re trying to go, but she might lose one of the kids in the process. They have already hit a few obstacles on the way and it’s not unprecedented to say that I think one of the kids might die. I would recommend this book to anyone just from reading the first 50 pages or so. There’s also one more thing, since the book is called Bird Box, I think that the creatures outside that everyone is hiding from might have something to do with birds. Maybe the creature is like a giant bird monster or something. Well, it’s only guesses for now.

I feel like if they current situation in the book, where there is monster outside and if you look at it you die, would cause major havoc if it happened in this day and age. There would probably be wide spread panic around the world, and people would most likely do what the characters did in the book, cover up their windows with mattresses and stuff. Either that could happen, or people would just post about it. Someone might take a Snapchat of the monster and then send it to all their friends, so when they open it, they die. There would be so much back-stabbing and I don’t even know how the government would handle a situation like this. Where would the President go? Would they keep them in a shelter? Are they going to cover all the windows in the White House? What about the homeless people living on the streets? Are they just going to die no matter what since they don’t have a place to go to? I also wonder how long it would take for everyone to figure out that you can’t look at the monsters and you have to close your eyes when you go outside. What about all the famous celebrities? Would their fans care about what would happen to them? School would probably be cancelled and there might be gangs and cults going around like they own the human race, robbing people and threatening to kill them if they don’t do what they say, kind of like the Walking Dead.

So I’m writing this blog post and I’m almost done with my book. It’s been one heck of a plot twist in just 60 pages. I’m still not sure how the book will end, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to end on a cliffhanger. There’s only like 10 pages left and I don’t think that the book can resolve all of its conflicts in that short amount of time. This book really reminds me of that movie, A Quiet Place. In the movie, a family has to live without making any noise or it will attract these creatures and the creatures will kill them. I really like the premise of the movie, and it’s very similar to the book, just with different senses being used. In the movie, they can’t make any sound, while in the book, they can’t even look outside or they will die. The premises of mysterious creatures that will kill you are present in both books, it’s just that they are used differently in creative ways. Living without sight would be better because it’s already a thing that people do in the world today. If someone is blind, then they wouldn’t really be affected by the whole “don’t look outside or you’ll die” thing. On the other hand, in the movie where you can’t make noise, that’s something completely different. Even if you’re blind or deaf, you still make noise. No matter what you do you can’t prevent yourself from making noise. It’s part of life. That’s what I think my book is similar too and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

So a couple of days ago, I started to read the book Warcross by Marie Lu. I think it’s a very interesting premise, and I get a lot of Ready Player One vibes from this book. They both revolve around this one person who is struggling in life. They both have this online game that some guy invented that the entire world is hooked on. I haven’t gotten to the point where Emika actually starts to play the game, so I don’t know if the online game is similar to the one from Ready Player One. The one thing I really find interesting is the struggle Emika is having to pay her rent. She’s a bounty hunter who chases after criminals and gets paid good money if they catch them. This is the idea that the book opens up with, and not the online video game itself. It’s really intense to read about Emika tracking down her prey and closing in on them. It’s like a breath-taking, page turning, thriller that I think could make a really good separate book itself. The idea of chasing and hunting people down for money would make a pretty interesting book. I’m sure that one already exists somewhere, I just don’t know what it’s called. But just from the first few chapters of Warcross, it got me pretty hooked on the book. I can’t wait to see what Emika does with her hacking and hunting skills in the future. I know that it will be cool, though.

The concept behind the virtual reality of Warcross is very interesting to me. I think it would be really cool if it existed in the real world; it would really be a game changer. The idea of having an entire virtual reality inside of a contact lens really boggles me. Like how do you even fit such components inside of it? The book explains how it’s powered, by using electricity that the human body generates. But how were they able to fit virtual reality inside of some flimsy contact lens? I guess it’s something we will never see in real life. Yet. The idea of only needing to be able to wear a pair of glasses and your brain will think that everything is real. Just from seeing, you brain is believing that you are there. And because of that, it will make you feel like you are actually there, like your present in that time and place and that’s the only place you are. I still don’t understand how that even works just from wearing a pair of glasses. The technology of the future is very mind boggling and I wish they would go into more detail about how it works exactly. That’s something that I would read about, and I’m sure that somewhere in the world, some person is trying to develop the same kind of technology as the book has. That would be a pretty cool future to have; technology from a book jumping out into reality.

The book I’m reading had taken a very interesting turn, and I like it. So apparently a “Dark World” exist in Warcross that’s similar to the Dark Web that we have online. A place for Warcross players to bet on games, hold their own illegal games, and pay to assassinate famous people. All of these ideas are extremely similar to the Dark Web, with the addition of buying illegal things like drugs or weapons. It probably plays the most important part in the story, connecting the main character to the main villain so they can interact with each other. I really like how the book is taking a dark turn, with all of the chasing and the love scenes. The person that the main characters gets with was something that I would have NEVER predicted in a million years. It really surprised me, but you get used to it since it sort of plays a major part in the story. Now a big event just happened that put the main character in the hospital, but I don’t want to spoil what it is. Well I guess that doesn’t really matter because you’ve probably already read the book. Anyway, I just love this book and I’m not sure if there is a sequel of not. I’m almost at the end, I think like 60 something pages left, and I don’t know what to read next after I finish this book. I don’t have that list that we made in the library, so I’ll just have to remember the best that I can.

The book I started to read is Unwind by Neal Shusterman. The premise of the book is very interesting, but it’s sort of confusing as well. I know the point of being “Unwound” is so that pieces of your body can be given and used by other people, but I don’t get why they do it in the first place. Don’t organ donors exist in this world? Why do they HAVE to raise children who are specifically raised so that their organs can be harvested? Why don’t they just use the organs of dead people instead of killing humans that have yet to live a perfectly normal life? I know that it might explain why later in the book, but just from read the first 50 pages, there are still many unanswered questions that I have. One thing that I actually like about the book is the interloping stories. It tells you one person’s story right off the bat and then the next chapter it tells you another person’s story, then again. Then it takes all three of these people’s stories and connects them somehow. All three of them are going to be unwound, but they escape it somehow. That’s how the interloping comes into play, where the first person’s actions affect the other people’s fates. That was what I found very interesting about how the book talks about its characters and connects all three in a way. Each page keeps me on the edge of my seat and that’s something I like to see in a book.

After reading about all the events that are happening in the book currently, it would be pretty bizarre if something like “Unwinding” happened in real life. I mean, it could help out society, like replacing body parts of people who are dying with healthy body parts. Things like that could be a pretty big improvement in human society, but at the expense of others. “Unwinding” teenagers is something that really isn’t okay. Having the idea that your parents might send you in to be Unwind is pretty nerve-racking if you think about it. Just think about your parents now, and think about the idea that they don’t care about you, that the only reason they’re raising you is so that your body can be torn apart and given to others. Thinking of MY parents doing that, it would crush me. Although the person doesn’t technically “Die”, their body parts stay alive inside other people’s bodies. This is shown in the book, as Cyrus received part of another person’s brain because Cyrus was in an accident beforehand. Even though it was another person’s brain, Cyrus could still see things like images and memories from the previous person’s life. That by itself is pretty weird, knowing that your brain is still functioning and they can view all of your memories. Would the persons brain that was donated still technically be alive? I mean if their brain is still functioning, what about thoughts and stuff? What if one person’s brain got moved into another person’s head? Would the previous persons still be alive or would their personalities combine or something? This book brings up a lot of questions, and I want answers.

So I finally finished reading the book, Unwind by Neal Shusterman, and I have to say, that book had me on edge from start to end. All of the action that was constantly happening never made me bored while reading this. I was always excited to start a turn a new page and start a new chapter. All the characters were interesting and they all had rememberable personalities. Each character played a major part in the story and that’s something that doesn’t occur often. The book would switch between each character’s perspectives every chapter and it was amazing how everything connects together. Keeping up with what was happening was not a problem, it was actually enjoyable if I do say so myself. It would be cool to have a sequel or something where it goes into more detail maybe about what happened like 10 years after the events in this book. Like maybe a similar situation happens, and since Conner runs the graveyard now, he has to go on this big adventure to save this group of kids and lots of old characters make appearances and stuff. They could also do a prequel book, where they explain in more detail how Unwinding came to be and maybe who were the first unwinding victims? Who were the first people they tested it on? How many trials and errors did they go through to get the procedure right? I think this would be a pretty interesting book, and I would love to read it, if it ever happens.

So the new book I started is called Miles Morales Spider-Man by Jason Reynolds. There is a movie coming out based on the book, but from watching the trailers for it I can see that it does differ from the book in some surprising ways. The book is just about Miles Morales being Spider-Man in general and fighting bad guys and stuff, while the movie talks about all these different Spider-Man universes combining together and Miles has to figure out how to send them all back to their respective universes. Now you can see that this storyline is WAY different than what the book is. I don’t know why they changed it, unless the events in the movie happen in the book at some point, but I highly doubt that. The book also has cover art that depicts real life, while the movie uses animation, but it has animation that looks very similar to real life, and I think that it’s pretty cool. So I am planning on seeing the movie when it comes out, later this month I think, and I hope that it’s pretty good considering that I’ve read the book before seeing it. Hopefully there are some characters that I will recognize, so I think that will be a pretty fun experience for me. So far, the book has been action packed, fighting gang people and stuff, so hopefully there is some major villain later in the book that Miles has to defeat or something, like all the other Spider-Man related stuff.

So the new book that I started reading is called Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suitsby David Wong. The main I reason I like this book is because there is no long character exposition in the beginning of the book, and it jumps into the action right away. Just the first few pages got me hooked on this book. I got to say, the action is pretty intense. You’re constantly on the edge of you seat wondering if the main character will get out of the current situation alive or not. Multiple people have already died, at least 3, and I’m on page 70. There are over 350 pages in this book, so I have no idea what kind of action could take place in the future. Just from what I’ve read, I recommend the book to anyone who likes some action and doesn’t care about long character expositions explaining the character’s past and stuff. It also introduces many new characters, which of few get killed off, and many of them are memorable because each character talks so much with the main character that you feel kind of sad when they die. I also like the idea of a “future society” that the book describes. Thinking about skyscrapers made out of TV’s playing Advertisements is something that I would like to see. They also have things like Holograms and giant safes that only unlock if you shove your head in the keyhole and let the machine scan your head. Pretty amazing and interesting book; can’t wait to keep reading.

The events that are happening in the book currently are getting weirder by the second. Your father just giving everything he owns to you sure is cool, but firing everybody Is kind of uncalled for. I couldn’t imagine something like this happening in real life, like if your grandparents were rich or something and in their will and testament they gave everything they owned to YOU, and only YOU, not your parents. I wouldn’t really know what to do with this information and a lot of money, it would be really overwhelming. In the book, there are people constantly going after the main character so that they can kill her. Hopefully if something like this happens in real life, there wouldn’t be people trying to come after me constantly to the point where I would have to hire body guards in order for me to be protected. The character development in the book is well spaced and has you get to know each character more. I’m only on like page 107, and a lot has happened in the book up until now. There are over 250 pages and I have no idea what to expect in the future. What else could happen in these next 250 pages? I’m not sure, because I’m sure just these 107 pages I’ve read so far could make a pretty interesting book by themselves. I’m sure some more intense stuff happens in the future and more people will probably die as well. Hopefully it’s not any of the good characters.
