Scholars call those new language Creoles. Today, Creoles languages in their own right, representing the region's composite cultures. Caribbean countries still use their respective colonial powers language for official purposes, but their dominance in contested Creole language and authentic expressions of Caribbean nation's identities. The most spoken languages in the Caribbean are European languages such as English, Spanish and Dutch </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO</strong><strong><em><br></em></strong>In Trinidad and Tobago there's alot, namely, Carnival, Tobago Heritage Festival, Phagwa and Hosay. <strong>Carnival</strong> is known as the biggest street party on earth. It is celebrated on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday every year. There are countless parties and fetes that lead up to Carnival. There are also cultural competitions. Carnival Monday starts with J'Ouvert at 4am, when revelers parade through the streets drenched in mud, paint and grease until sunrise. Later on the day Monday and all day Tuesday, thousands of masqueraders flood the streets in both traditional mas (namely Dame Lorraine and Devils) and in bold, colorful costumes dancing through the parading routes to the hyped sounds of Soca, Steel Pan and Calypso music. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Tobago Heritage Festival </strong>is celebrated annually from mid July to the beginning of August. Beginning in the year of 1986 as a pilot project, the festival was brought about to preserve cultural traditions of Tobago. It lasts for a 2-week period. During the 2-week period different villages host their own production, there are plays, folklore story telling and traditional dances. The also an array of mouth watering dishes. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Phagwa </strong>also known as Holi is a religious festival celebrated by the Hindu community in March of each year. Phagwa is not only celebrated by Hindus, it is also celebrated by the wider population due to the multi-ethnic and multi-religious traits of the citizens. People traditionally wear white clothing as they are sprayed with a variety of coloured dyed mixed with water which is called abeer. There's also music and dance performances by local artists. This is usually celebrated in an open Savannah or on the roads at home. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Hosay</strong> is the commemoration of the martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad's grandsons Hassan and Hussein at the Battle of Kerbala in Persia. Every year it is observed in St. James and Cedros. There is a parade of colorful Tadjahs accompanied by tassa drummers. This lasts for three consecutive nights referred to as Flag Night, Small Hosay and Big Hosay. This period is determined by the lunar/moon calendar. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Barbados there are countless festivals and celebrations a few are Crop-Over festival, Holetown festival and Oistins Fish festival. <br><strong>Crop-Over Festival</strong> is the most popular and colorful festival in Barbados. It can be traced back to the early 1780's, a time when Barbados was the world's largest producer of sugar. At the end of the sugar season there was always a huge celebration to mark the ending of another successful sugar cane harvest. It begins with the crowning of the King and Queen of the Festival- the most productive male and female cane cutters of the season. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The</strong> <strong>Holetown</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> commemorates the anniversary of the first settlement of Barbados at Holetown on February 1627. This festival has a take span of one week and it begins mid-February with the opening celebrations taking place at the Holetown Monument. It showcases local arts and crafts, also Barbadian culture and history. Some events include historical lectures, beauty contests, street parades and so much more. There are samples of Bajan foods such as macaroni pie, pudding and fish cakes, all washed down with a cold Banks beer or Barbados rum. </div>]]></description>

There is the enjoyment of sweet calypso and reggae music and of of course dancing, which builds up an appetite for the delectable food from the stalls there. Local arts and crafts can also be found in abundance as craftsmen get an opportunit  to display their talent of making wares. This festival attracts both local and international visitors. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Jamaica there are many festivals and celebrations that brings unity. A few of these celebrations and festivals are Saint Ann's Kite Festival, Reggae Sumfest and Accompong Maroon Festival. <strong>Saint Ann's Kite Festival</strong> also called Jamaican International Kite Festival is held on Easter Monday, a public holiday in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries. This kite flying event is also a classical Jamaican Family Funday filled with lots of fun. There are competitions for adults and fun activities for the kids. During the day there are activities such as kite flying, dancing competition and a bun eating competition. In the evening there are lots of entertainmen such as a reggae stage show. There are also a variety of Jamaican appetizers and drinks to choose from. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reggae Sumfest </strong>is the largest music festival in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. It is hosted each year in mid-July in Montego Bay. It started in 1993 and is still held up to this year. It attracts people of all ages from all over the world and has featured a very large number of Jamaican reggae artists such as Damian Marley, Larry Smart and John Holt, and dancehall artists such as Vybz Kartel, Popcaan and Spice, as well as international artists such as Rihanna, Kanye West and Chris Brown. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Accompong Maroon Festival </strong>is a cultural celebration that commemorates 200 years since the signing of the peace treaty between the Maroon and British. It celebrates the victory of the first Maroon War against the British in which they fought for their freedom. There are traditional dancing, singing, blowing of the abeng(a cow horn) and the playing of Maroon drums. The men usually takes controls of the cooking for this celebration, no salt is used when cooking for this celebration. </div>]]></description>

Junkanoo, All Andros Crab Festival and Fox Hill Day Festival just to name a few. <br><strong>Junkanoo </strong>is a cultural music and dance festival unique to The Bahamas that goes back to 100's of years. There are several theories about its origin. Every year Bahamians dress themselves in handmade costumes and dance through the streets of Downtown Nassau overnight into the morning. There is a mixture of European brass and traditional African instruments. </div>]]></description>

It celebrates the crab-catching ways of Andros Island referred to as "The island of Crab." It showcases the cooking of land crab in one hundred and one (101) ways, a cultural crab show, a crab culinary contest and the releasing of crabs. There is also a display of the crabs life cycle. Rake and Scrape music is played at this festival.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Fox Hill Day Festival</strong> is the oldest in the country. It commemorates the freeing of the enslaved Africans in The Bahamas. It falls on the second Tuesday after the August Monday (Emancipation Day) Holiday. The day starts off with an early morning church service. Food vendors sell native dishes, desserts and drinks throughout the day. This festival comes to live in the evening as crowds gather to enjoy the entertainment of live music, beauty contests and climbing the greasy pole. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Chutney music</strong> is a form of indigenous music in the Caribbean, most popular in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname. It is a combination of Bhojpuri music, with a hint of Calypso,  Bollywood Film songs and Soca. It emerged in the mid-20th century and became popular in the 1980's. It was typically sung by females at weddings and temples and the lyrics were religious in nature. Some well known chutney artists are Drupati, Sundar Popo, Sam Boodram, Raymond Ramnarine and KI Persad. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Calypso music</strong> in Trinidad and Tobago is mainly of African origin and can be traced to traditions of West Africans in terms of music. It was brought by the enslaved people.  Calypso was used as a form of newspapers, meaning that in time when literary wasn't popular people would sing songs of self-praise and scorn for others. Overtime it developed to be both dance and music with implicit meanings. Some famous Calypso artists are Mighty Sparrow, David Rudder and Calypso Rose.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Caribbean cuisine consists of various culinary influences such as Africa, France, India and America just to name a few. In the Caribbean fresh fruits and vegetables make up a large portion of the diet. It also includes Seafood call Mom chicken and steak that is prepared what the finest seasonings and spices that are locally-grown in each Caribbean country. The Arawaks, Caribs and Taino "Indians" who were the first residers in Caribbean islands, their diet consisted of vegetables and fruits. When the European brought African slaves to the island, the Caribbean became the crosswords to the world. Just leave owners did not eat what did slaves ate, so the slaves had to mix their traditional food with foods on the islands. The Africans introduced callaloo, saltfish, mangos and lots more. At the end of slavery, the Europeans that went to China and India for labor introduced more cuisines. Food is an essential a spec of many family traditions and Caribbean culture. Some famous Caribbean foods that are grown locally are rice, plantains, beans, provision and there are various meats that are available locally such as beef, chicken, fish and lots more. <br> They are also a variety of street food in each Caribbean country. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>West Indies cricket was originally imported from England. It began in the 1880's when the first combined West Indies formed and visited United States and Canada. In the 1926 West Indies board joined the sports International ruling body the Imperial Cricket Council. Cricket's was used as a socializing tool. It was a man's game. Cricket encapsulate issues of race, politics, class as well as high and low culture. When lower class and daughter game the sporting sector was used to produce an individual who would be respectful, obedient, disciplined and loyal to each other and persons in authority. Sports as a force that brings people together and provide them with a sense of unity creating a feeling of pride and identification with the athlete to represent their countries at an international level. Through sports colonialism is resisted and nationalism is reinforced. There are also informal sporting activities such as those that take place in the town of Buccoo in Tobago, a home of tradition that serves as an alternative to horse racing, it is known as horse racing. Another informal Sports activity is crab races that are also held in Tobago. </div>]]></description>
