On October 27 in Pittsburgh, a man named Robert D. Bowers killed 11 people and wounded about 7 people. Robert was armed with AR-15. People in the synagogue started to run for their lives. The surprising event took place in the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh during a baby naming ceremony. Cops finally arrive into the scene. Shortly after, the shooter was finally arrested. Funerals were prepared for the victims. The president himself went to Pittsburgh to speak the issue himself. The shooter was eventually put on trial and pleaded not guilty. The victims killed in the shooting were Irving Younger, Melvin Wax, Rose Mallinger, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Jerry Rabinowitz, Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Daniel Stein, Cecil Rosenthal, and David Rosenthal.

Dowers before the shooting, made anti-semitic posts on twitter. He claimed that "Jews were the enemy of white people". Right before the shooting, Robert stated that he couldn't handle "Jews killing his own people" anymore. He decided to go kill them. Bowers already had registered 21 guns. Then he went out. Robert Bowers clearly had anti-semitic thoughts and shot people of jewish beliefs. Also in the 2010s, there was a surge of anti-semitic accidents.

Despite 11 people killed and 7 wounded, there were other effects of this violent shooting. Hate crime inside the US increased by 17%. Loved ones were lost in the massacre. People are seeing therapy. Anti-Semitic posters were spread after the event. Citizens are scared that another shooting like that might happen again. The community was devastated. People around the world payed the respects to the people who died. The president Donald Trump even came to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh had to experience the 3rd deadliest shooting in a religious place and the residents are destroyed at this slaughter.

The synagogue shooting is probably bigger than you think. In the US, hate crimes grew by 17%. Anti-Semitic in the US has increased by 30% with over 2,000 accidents. Several world leaders, politicians, and people in the government are concerned like Benjamin Netanyahu (Israeli Prime Minister), Justin Trudeau (Canadian Prime Minister),etc. Several people have been inspired to shoot up other synagogues. A guy named Damon M. Joseph almost did it. However he stopped before he could do it. Just imagine if another slaughter like the Pittsburgh shooting happened. Jewish people are being targeted. The worst thing is that another shooting could happen anywhere and at anytime.

Of course, security in religious places has been increased due to this shooting. People in the synagogue are being told what to do if another shooting happens. The Pittsburgh city council is currently considering a ban on assault weapons due to the shooting. Some groups (Launch Good, The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, and more) have been raising fundraisers. Muslims, Christians, and people of other religions have been donating to these fundraisers or just directly. The money is being used for adding better religious security, the funerals of the causalities, medical bills for the wounded, and psychological services. Jewish people faced a hard problem. But people with differences came and helped the Jewish community.

Dear Diary,

It was October 27. It was a Saturday morning. So I had to go to the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh to attend my sabbath services. I went with my mom that day. When we were finally there, we had a baby naming ceremonial. We were deciding its Hebrew name. People with us were filled with glee for the newborn. Sometime in, the doors of the synagogue opened up. Everyone around me looked towards the unwanted intruder. He had a gun and that was enough to make us run away with fear. Some gunshots hit a few of us. I got separated by my mom. I wondered where the baby was since I ran and never looked back. I thought to myself that it was sad that a baby had to go through such violence. I got out of my hiding spot to see a few corpses lying on the synagogue floor. I ran outside as quickly as I could and called 911. I also yelled at bystanders of what was going on. After some minutes which felt like eternity, the police eventually arrived. I ran away from the scene but stayed enough to hear gunshots. The police reported that 11 people died. Luckily my mom didn't die however friends were killed. I tried not to cry when I heard that. I'll hope to get to know more of the incident.

From, yours truly
