In this lesson, we have been taught regarding what the Nicene Creed is and what it means. The nicene creed is what us christians believe in and is a symbol of our faith. The creed speaks of the foundation of earth and everything in existence , “creator of heaven and earth, of all thing visible and invisible”. It also speaks of when he came down to earth to save us, “for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven”. In this lesson we also learned about the apostles creed. I thing that we learnt from the apostles creed was that it was created because illiterate people had trouble memorizing the nicene creed. We also searched up parts of the nicene creed that we didn’t understand and found what it meant in the catechism. For example, we searched up the phrase “begotten, not made, consubstantial with the father”. The phrase means “Jesus was procreated naturally, not made”. Understanding all phrases in the nicene creed really helps understand what it means. Understanding it helps us understand what we need to believe.

In these past lessons, we have been learning what the Nicene creed is. Everybody knew what it was but not what it meant. In these lessons, we broke down the creed line by line to look into what it meant. We learned that the Nicene Creed is basically the summary of what Catholics believe in. After we broke down the creed we learned that there are some lines that we don't understand. for example, begotten not made, consubstantial with the father was unclear, after breaking it down I now know that it means "Consubstantial describes the relationship among the Divine persons of the Christian Trinity and connotes that God the Father". This lesson was important because we were saying a prayer without knowing what we were doing but know I know what I am praying.

In the lesson we learned that the creed some of us have studied since childhood and know by heart, isn't as simple as it seems. We can recite the words easily but only now do we realize just how much of these recitations we actually understand. Every single group found at least one thing they didn't understand about the creed. For me, the one part i truly didn't understand was line 8 in the creed "Begotten not made, consubstantial to the Father." I found out that this line means, Jesus was procreated in the natural way of life not made, and that he was one with God. After analyzing the creed, I realize the holes we've filled in help us better understand the creed we believe in.

In this lesson we are shown one of the most important prayers that we have as Catholics, as well as it is one that we should have memorized during our childhood. This prayer is one the most respect creeds in the Catholic religion. Let's be honest, when we were or at least I was learning the creed I didn't have the slightest idea of what it meant. I would just repeat exactly what my teacher(s) said( I still haven't memorized the creed to this day.. This month, this prayer was brought to our attention once again. Today, we were told to read the creed and say the words or sentences we didn't understand. Now , after this lesson I am starting to understand the creed and why we say it or at least should know about it's existence.

In this lesson, I've learned to understand the Nicene Creed more. I also learned that the Apostles Creed is a summary of the Nicene Creed. Even though I memorized it, I didn't truly understand everything. There was this one phrase that confused me, "God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten not made constubstantial with the Father." Although, it's one phrase, it took a while for me to understand what it meant by "God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God." I knew the second part of the phrase meant that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is one. They're not separate beings. The Son is True God. Light is an essence of God. Jesus is the light begotten to God. All it means is they're all connected as one.

The Nicene Creed is an important prayer to the Catholics, as well as the Apostles Creed. Still I had a bit of trouble trying to understand the statement, "In accordance with the Scriptures." It took me some time, but it finally came to me and I understood the meaning. The Catholic Catechism didn't really help me with this statement because it showed no evidence of this phrase when I searched. According to Corinthians 1 15:3-4, " For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures." The phrase meant to me that the events mentioned were predicted/written in the Scriptures before the events even happened.

My group understood most of the creed but there were a few parts that we didn't understand. The part which my group struggled to understand the most was "God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made consubstantial with the father". My group interpreted it as God from God means God is the only God. We interpreted light from light as either he gave us light or we are the light. Finally, we interpreted Begotten Not made Consubstantial with the father as that he wasn't made like the rest of us and that consubstantial with the father means that he is connected with the father like the holy trinity. At the end of the lesson, we learned and fully interpreted the Nicene Creed.

There were certain things we might find difficult to comprehend because of their context or of the way they are said. In this lesson, L1, we learnedin depth about both the nicene creed. The nicene creed was the original creed, stating what us catholics believe in. The nicene creed was very complicated, especially because most of the people were uneducated, and had difficulty memorizing it. Even I don't understand some of the sentances, such as begotten, not made, consubstancial with the father. This is why they created the apostles, a simplified version which still stated our beliefs. THis is why now they just teach us to memorize the apostles creed, because it is unnecessary to memorize the complicated nicene creed.

Through this fascinating lesson I learned that in many prayers especially the Nicene Creed there are a lot of hidden messages that you really need to think and might make have some questions. For example one of the first statements in the prayer, I believe in one God the Father almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth, of ALL THINGS VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE. The important part there is the when it states, "All things VISIBLE and INVISIBLE. To me I think that statement truly tests our faith because we tend to only believe in things that are we can visually see, the first step in our Catholic/Cristian walk is that we have faith and believe in the holy things that can and can not be seen. One big reason to people not believing in Christ is being we can not physically see him. To me if we could see him there would be no point in what we do today like praying and reading the bible to strengthen our faith because we would all know he exists. Once we dig deep and find the willingness to believe in him on a daily bases and trust in him everything else will get easier and I believe that the things I just said are the reasons why it is the first statement in the prayer.

During our lessons this past week or so we mainly learned about and anylized the Nicene creed and the Apostles creed. Honestly at first, I had only memorized the Apostles creed and I didn’t know that the Nicene even existed. Throughout the lesson, I’ve figured out that the Nicene creed is basically everything we know and believe as christians put together into one as a way so show and represent our faith. The Apostle creed is very similar to it as it is like a summary and it represents the same thing. We also learned that these creeds aren’t something meant to be recited and memorized but as something meant to be interpreted from, live by, and truly understand. There were some facts about the creeds that were confusing like “Begotten, not made, consubstantial to our father”. It had left me pondering because of the make up of word once I had understood the words I could furthur more understand the underlaying idea; that Jesus Christ was the only one of this children to actually be made my him and not of his other creations. As well he is phdically a part of God. Something I have noticed is that in the creeds and other things in the bible eg. Catechism, all start with the same words “I believe in God’’ showing tha throughout the thousands of year we all believe in one thing most importantly, God.

Based on our current lesson, I have learned many new things. First off, I've learned what the Nicene Creed is. I've heard of it before, the words in it, but not the name. I always thought it was just called the Apostles Creed, but it was just a longer version. Another thing I have learned is a more deeper meaning of what the Nicene Creed is. It is a summery of our faith that was meant to be memorized back in the early ages, but then was shortened to the Apostle's Creed we know today. The Nicene Creed is a summery of our Faith. Is tells of how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one. How Jesus will come again in glory. How his kingdom will have no end. I learned about the statements in the Nicene Creed and about the Apostle's Creed using the Catechism. I learned that Jesus was killed in a brutal way so that it would be remembered by everyone and not forgotten for just being another death. I learned about the Liturgical Seasons. We also hard about a band, called newsboys, who sings song about God and we heard one of their songs called We Believe. I learned more out the Catechism and about our Faith. In class we talked about Heaven and how there is no time and space. We also had discussions on what happens when God leaves for sometime to test how much you truly trust him and believe in him. I do have to say this this was an interesting lesson.

In our previous religion lesson we learned about the Nicene creed and the meaning of it. The Nicene creed is a more informative and older version of the apostles creed. The Nicene creed basically explains what us Catholics believe in. For example when the Nicene creed said "God from God light from light true God from true God". Means that we believe that Jesus Christ isn't the true God but was naturally created by God the Father. I also learned that the Nicene creed was created because people back then weren't that educated and they had difficulty remembering it, hence the Catholic church created the apostles creed. Another thing we learned about is the liturgical seasons, the liturgical season is a calendar that tells us when each catholic season begins and end. I learned that there are six different liturgical seasons that we believe in which are: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost. In conclusion this is what I learned in our previous religion lessons.

In religion, we have learned a lot about the Nicene Creed. This creed is a lengthier version of the apostle's creed that speaks more in-depth of our beliefs. The apostle's creed only truly states what we mostly believe at the end of the prayer, while the Nicene Creed, speaks more in-depth about our beliefs. As an example the very first line the Nicene creed states "I believe in one God, The father almighty" This is really what we believe in and what is pretty much the fundamentality of our religion. In these oast few lessons, we've learned a lot about our religion and how different things in history and things that happen in the bible relate to the apostles and Nicene Creed. Another part of the Nicene Creed that really related to me was; he was born of the Virgin Mary and became a man. The lord became man for us and was tortured and died for our sins, which I think is the ultimate sacrifice. Both of the creeds that we have looked at, state and sum up our beliefs.

Our past religion lessons have opened my eyes to a new perspective of the Nicene Creed. The Nicene Creed is a more detailed version of the Apostles Creed. This Creed is a bit longer than the other and touches on the only believing in one God subject more then the Apostles Creed does. "His kingdom will have no end". This line from the Nicene Creed really sets itself apart from the others to me because it is a very real statement that has a very empowering message. The life with him is eternal in his kingdom ( Heaven ) and this line really got me thinking. The both of them are summaries of our faith and I believe because the Nicene Creed is more detailed it has a better description of our faith.

In our current religion class, I've learned a lot and we only did three lessons. We Catholics have something called the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed. They are a summary of our faith and what we believe in. We say the Apostles Creed every Sunday when we go to church. We only say the Nicene Creed in occasional moments. I have learned that the Apostles Creed was made many times just to make it easier for children and adults to memorize it. Although the Nicene Creed has a deeper meaning than the Apostles Creed it was hard for young adults and children to memorize it. I like how the Nicene Creed starts off with saying I believe in one God. We Catholics are only supposed to worship one God while the Apostles Creed only says I believe in God. Uneducated Catholics might not know what God to believe in. The right true God or a fake idol God. The Nicene Creed tells us more how the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all equal to one, which makes it the Holy Trinity. In the Apostles Creed and the Nicenes Creed, it tells us how God will come again as man and we will recognize him and believe him. I've learned about the catechism in class. We also listened to a song called we believe. That song showed us what we truly believe in. We are not supposed to worship idols or believe in garbage ideas. Those things won't last.

The Nicene creed is a summary of what Catholics believe, like the apostle creed but it goes into much deeper on their beliefs. It states about the father and son and I learned, through this prayer that the prayer also try's to give out the point that Jesus and god are the same "God from God, light from light, true God from true God.

This lesson was different compared to all the other religion lessons we had. We had compared the Nicene creed with the Apostle creed and learned that the Nicene creed is older and also it was more complex and hard to memorize. We also briefly explain every line in the creed and the mini assignment we had to do today (or yesterday depending on when your looking at this) helped us. We checked a catholic website for the description. The song was a nice song it was depthful. I liked the word words they used
