It's difficult to communicate that climate change is an immediate problem, without implying that it's too late (causing people to give up and become apathetic), or implying that there's still time (causing people to relax and again become apathetic). How do also you navigate doom and gloom responses from the public? 

Finding this balance is perhaps made even more significant with such high stakes - since clarifying the urgency of climate actions can result in certain people tending towards extremism (e.g. ecoterrorism or, on the opposite extreme, suicide). However, for me, what seems crucial is to reach out to individuals and groups of the public that are not convinced about how big a threat climate change is. It seems to me that this has become even more obvious since the beginning of the pandemic when a very wide range of pandemic denial narratives cropeed out. Many of them were entwined with ideas and perceptions about nature, which were very close to eco-fascism (e.g. that humans are the virus and that nature is better off without the human species). It seems that many academics are invested in the gate-keeping of their disciplines and communicating with them about the importance of interdisciplinary research is quite difficult, simply because interdisciplinary research can never be good enough by the standards of each separate discipline. I like presentations and workshops and I would like to have the opportunity to work with local stakeholders (e.g. the city council, NGOs, art centres, schools, etc) in order to increase awareness of climate change but also to listen to what people have to say about their experience of it.
