This article made me laugh! Yes, I am totally that teacher who tries anything and everything to maintain attention, engagement, and inquiry. One of my students just said today, "I like math better...because you always change something up!" They know their my guinea pigs and they appreciate my interest in trying new things.

I had moved into Rebellion as a classroom teacher before transitioning to coaching. The earlier stages were accelerated within this role probably bc I'd gone through them before, but they still happened. Never thought about that before. I have now been coaching long enough that I confident and comfortable enough to Rebel again. Maybe one day I'll stay in a role long enough to reach Ongoing Mastery!

I am naturally a rule follower but I have learned there are times when I just need to shut my door and do what's best for kids and not be so concerned with making sure I am doing exactly what I'm told to do if I don't think it's what is best for our students. I honestly think being in graduate school and doing so much research has empowered me to take more risks.

With so many new policies and changes in the county with personalized learning and a new superintendent, it is a bit crazy right now. We are a 1to1 county, but we are seeing that a heavy focus on technology and less focus on actual teaching has caused a decline in student achievement. Many teachers are leaving the profession and are complaining about the constant changes.

Sherah - I am always questioning and wondering how education can be better. It seems like we just haven't figured it out and we keep going in circles.

I believe I have gone through each of the stages and now feel that I am in the Ongoing Mastery. I believe I fluctuate between the different stages because sometimes I think I am just surviving. Often times, I am experimenting on different things and become disillusioned because others think what I am doing does not make sense or there is too much added to our roles to experiment.
