         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Around from the 8th-11th century<br>- From Scandinavia and traveled to Asia, Europe, and the North Atlantic<br>- Used advanced ships for the time that used sails or oars. The ships were also symmetrical from bow to stern which meant it was easy to turn around<br>- they traveled around by sea, destroying monasteries, and collecting all the loot they could get their hands on  <br>- the vikings started off by just looting monasteries by the sea but as their power grew, they started moving inland for more loot <br>- the viking expeditions were important because they proved new mariner technologies while colonizing different parts of the world  <br><br></div>]]></description>
