Kahramanmaraş, located in the Eastern Mediterranean, has an important potential in terms of alternative tourism with its Başkonuş and Yavşan plateaus, Kapıçam Nature Park, Körçoban Nature Protection Area, caves, dams, streams, lakes, mountains, Germanicia Mosaics, Eshab-ı Kehf Complex, castles, historical mosques and bazaars, traditional handicrafts, local cuisine and its tarhana, chili pepper and ice cream, which are also registered as geographical indications. Although it is in the Mediterranean climate zone, it borders the Central Anatolian and Eastern Anatolian climate zones. A continental Mediterranean climate type, which has changed due to the distance to the sea and the altitude, is dominant. It is cooler than our southern provinces. Berit, Engizek, Binboğa, Nur Mountain and Ahır Mountain are important altitudes. Elbistan, Göksun and Kahramanmaraş Plains are important plains of the province. Akdeniz iklim kuşağında olmakla beraber Orta Anadolu ve Doğu Anadolu iklim kuşaklarıyla sınır teşkil etmektedir. Denize uzaklık ve yükselti nedeniyle değişikliğe uğramış karasallaşmış bir Akdeniz iklim tipi egemendir. Güney illerimize göre daha serindir. Berit, Engizek, Binboğa, Nur Dağı ve Ahır Dağı önemli yükseltilerdendir. Elbistan,Göksun ve Kahramanmaraş Ovaları ilin önemli ovalarıdır. Ceyhan Nehri il sınırları sınırları içinde doğmaktadır.
