Mechanical - A student is unable to understand an online lecture due to the buffering caused by poor internet connection.
3. Environmental - Heavy rains interrupt the transmission of signals so that Astro users are unable to view television programs.

Week 4 - Opinion on User Generated Content (UGC)

The ubiquity of UGC is inevitable in our world today. With social media platforms mushrooming everywhere, everyone is given a global voice. The ability for anyone to create content undoubtedly brings benefits to all. People can now share their opinions on virtual, international platforms, and connect with people who share their views. UGC also boosts digital marketing as it is a more personalized approach. Companies can now benefit from their customers as unpaid advertisers when they share their reviews about a certain product. However, as UGC grows more widespread each day, people can get bombarded with information and opinions. There seems to be no ultimate truth anymore--anything anyone says can be true. Besides that, when private information is leaked, or people get sacked for posting content that violates a company’s privacy policies--or worse still--jeopardize the nation, that’s when UGC makes the world a more dangerous place.

Do you trust or distrust printed newspapers?
Personally, I do not read printed newspapers at all because I'd much rather read online. To me, printed news can be quite troublesome to read (because the papers are big and the ink stains your hands) and difficult to understand, because sometimes the headlines do not match the images shown and that can get quite confusing. I wouldn't say that I distrust printed news, but I much prefer reading online news.

1. Personally, I think movie theaters will not exist after 10 years because of (1) the pandemic, and (2) people will prefer watching movies from the comfort of their homes instead of travelling to a cinema. The film-watching experience will shift from theater to online streaming. Platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ will be the main film distributors.
2. I think 10 years from now, only news broadcasting will be relevant. Even so, their revenue will suffer, but I think they won't cease to exist. Yet. However, I think the entertainment sector of broadcasting will not survive, as people will turn to streaming instead. Because the broadcast industry relies largely on the middle-age to elderly audiences, it might be completely irrelevant when the younger generations take over.

Listening to traditional radio meant that you had to tune in to the correct frequency of your desired radio station. If the frequency was even a slight bit off, you'd be met with noise. However, this has become a thing of the past with digital radio apps. Besides that, traditional radio does not give listeners as much freedom to choose what they want to listen to as much as digital radio. For example, iTunes radio offers a large range of stations for listeners to choose from, with each station specializing in different topics like sports, music and news. If listeners don't like what they hear, they can switch stations easily with a click of the button, whereas traditional radio requires manually adjusting the frequency and searching for stations.
