The semantic web is the more appropriate term for Web 3.0 as it talks about how technology is beginning to obtain the capabilities of technology talking to other technologies. People are becoming very busy in today's day and age as everything is always on the go and technology can be used to make some life errands easier to do and have technology take care of things for the person ahead of time (i.e. setting up auto payments).

Web 2.0 VS. Web 3.0

Web 2.0 is manually manipulating the internet to do what you want. For example, me typing this is manual because I physically have to do it. Web 3.0 is where technology does the work for you. If I got a Firefly (technology that types what you say) I would be making minimal effort to do this as I could just talk to my computer and the technology would type this for me.

Web 3.0 can be used in education in multiple ways. The first one, is putting in data and having the internet generate a report for you based off the criteria that was inputted and can make a visual for the user. This helps with presentations in the classroom. Another example, would be simulators, where the user can interact with the technology based environment and have it automatically generate the effects that would have happened in the real world if that action were coded. Finally, it can be used to help students talk to do homework and help those who do not have writing capabilities convey what they are trying to say without having to actually do it and can provide immediate feedback.
