My Goal as a Teacher ~ Balanced

-An example that the reading had was to work on "considering and acting on factors that contribute to personal, social, and physical health and well-being." I put others before myself often; I like to make sure that everyone is happy and that they have everything that they need. This results in my own health not getting the attention that it needs. I would like to try to start running at least once a week to destress and to work on my physical health.
-With being balanced, I also think of organization. Students can tell when their teacher is frazzled and doesn't have things together. One thing that I can work on, as soon as this weekend, is to organize my school stuff. I just shove all of my books in a bag and hope that I have everything that I need for the day. I need to just slow down and think about my schedule for the day so that I know what I will need.

Me as a Learner ~ Thinker

-One thing that I could work on is to become a better advocate for myself. I have lots of ideas in my head but sometimes I think that others will think that my idea is dumb or doesn't make any sense. The same also happens with questions. I can begin by just talking about my ideas or saying my questions within my group of friends and even at my placement.
-I want to work on thinking outside the box. Throughout school, I have been told that I have to stay within the lines and do assignments specific ways. Why are educators putting a cap on student's imagination? If they want to draw on two pieces of paper to make their drawing even more elaborate, let them! I want to work on this so that my students in my future classroom know that they can go anywhere in life and become whatever they want to be. They need to be able to think outside the box if they want to be world changers and tomorrow's leaders. This is something that I will have to work on over time. One way to work on this is to just be more open when others are telling me their ideas.

My Personality ~ Caring

-The reading said to try "supporting peers in the learning community." I think I am already working on this by being in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. I have a little that I meet with throughout the month but I would like to tell more people about how much fun it is to be a Big. Sometimes, it brings up tough conversations but I always ask myself "What would I have wanted to know when I was that young that no one told me?" We talk about everything from homework, to how things are going at home, to popularity, to what her and her friends talk about. I want to pour more into that relationship and talk with my Little more than I do.
- One thing I would like to start to do is to make time for myself throughout the day, and not just in the car. I come home from school and I have a house and a husband to take care of, which is something I am still trying to get used to. Don't get me wrong, I love being a wife and being able to serve my husband. I just need to take some time for myself. I think the best time to do this might be as soon as I get home from school. It gives me time to destress from my day but it also gives me a minute to thin back about what I learned that day.
