Moving into 2019, I am fortunate to have already secured a teaching position. I also know that I will be teaching a concept that I am not overly familiar with (upper school integrated science), and as such, I plan to engage with professional learning over the summer holidays. In particular, I have enrolled in a online course for introductory physics, and have been using my PLN to find high-quality teaching resources that I can use as exemplars.

I am able to use Google and Microsoft tools though. Therefore, I am currently completing online courses to develop y competencies in using these tools.

My Masters of Teaching did not have a unit dedicated to assessment, and so I entered the classroom unsure of how to write a good assessment using the curriculum. Therefore, when the opportunity became available in In July 2018, I signed up for a PD called 'Writing Assessment for Essentials Math'. I was shown how to use grade descriptors to write an assessment, and how to distribute A, B and C-grade questions. I would like to complete another PD relating to this to this in which I get to bring along my science assessment and compare them to other teachers so that I know have have been using grade descriptors appropriately to write assessment.

As I will be involved with taking part in a number of parent-teacher interviews in the coming years, and I need to be able to have productive conversations with parents, I must develop my ability to use formal but jargon-free language.
