I believe that learning is first and foremost is something that builds on prior knowledge, where one's knowledge is a scaffold that supports future learning. It is also being able to repeat the information back and fully grasp what is being taught. Also, learning can take place everywhere and not only a classroom. Also, for learning to take place, a teacher doesn't always have to be present, learning can be from other classmates, other staff, other people in the students' lives.

I believe that teaching is not just a career. It is a passion. Teaching is making a difference in kids' lives and being the safe haven and constant that they can always rely on regardless of how other things are going. Teaching is helping ALL students succeed.

I believe the purpose of schooling is to provide the fullest measurement of learning possible; character, morally, and productively in a society. I think the purpose of schooling also is to open the minds of students and get them prepared for their future.

I believe my future students are ones that will be loved and cared for. At the end of the day, if they aren't learning anything else, I hope they walk out of my classroom knowing what kindness, fairness, and respect is. All of my future students will know they are ALL learners and smart also. I don't want anyone to feel under valued in my classroom.

I believe that family/community is essentially the same thing. I know in the community I come from, we all knew each other and thought of each other as family. Unfortunately, this is not the case for everywhere but I think that in order to make a community you need family somewhere along the lines in there.

I believe collaboration in a classroom is working together with the students and communicating things so that the students have the best learning environment possible. I think this type of learning is a fun and energetic escape from the usual style of sitting in a chair and learning while the teacher speaks.

I believe that being a teacher activist refers to those who try to provide social justice in public education in a worldwide scale challenging all kinds of social priorities. By definition of a teacher, teaching is without doubt their activism, though they are obliged to follow a certain curriculum which to them may not be sufficient enough to improve the cultural level of the learners.
