Look Both Ways is written by Jason Reynolds the book is made up of many short stories that focus on middle school life.

In "Five Things Easier" and "Water Booger Bears" they show great friendship. Reynolds wrote in "Water Booger Bears" "Their basically note that said I've miss you"(3). Which shows how much they care about the other person. Reynolds wrote in "Five Things Easier", " which was nothing-elementary-compared to the complex system he and Kenzi had"(98). Their handshake only got harder after elementary because their friendship grew stronger when they got older.

Reynolds writes in "Low Cuts Strike Again", "When Bit got into a fight, he was like a cornered animal, all teeth and claws"(25). Bit gets into a fight with a guy who was picking on a kid in his friend group named John John because he was getting picked on. this show that friends support each other because John John was getting picked on and Bit said no more and beat up the bully for his friend.

Jasmine and TJ mean a lot to each other the made up these things called friendship flags. These friendship flags are empty snack bags these symbolize their great friendship they have for each other. Jason Reynolds writes "his locker was littered with empty snack bags that Jasmine had slid through the door vent between classes over the last two days. Trash...yes. But Jasmine and Tj call them "friendship flags"." (3). They push them into the other persons locker to show they missed them. When Jasmine was sick because he has sickle cell he missed school for a while. When Jasmine was gone TJ put a bunch of friendship flags in his locker.

The book Look Both Ways can relate to the real world Because the story talks about the struggle that is going on in your life and finding a friend that can relate to what you go through. It relates to my life cause I have friend that I can talk to in life and the will understand. those friend have been close to me most of my life just in the book.
