In the book when Atticus was talking to Scout he said  “I’m simply defending a Negro—his name’s Tom Robinson "(Lee 77) this shows how even kids like Scout find it different that Atticus a white man is defending a black man who is Tom Robinson. Also, during the court case Atticus had evidence that Tom Robinson could not have done the crime. Since the people of Maycomb have stereotypes for people like Tom Robinson, Tom got proven "guilty" even though the other side had no solid evidence on the trial, this dose not show equality to Tom Robinson because he has evidence witch nobody is taking into consideration. This shows Auggie's true personality because he is just a kid and likes to have fun like anyone else in his school. Also, like other kids Auggie likes the stars and space and also loves his astronaut helmet. Since Auggie has Treacher Collins Syndrome he experienced a lot of bullying by other kids in his grade, this is due to peoples accusations about Auggie since he is different than others. Also, the bullies say rumors and lies about Auggie and his face even though he can't change the way his face looks. Auggie also explains how he would get rid of his syndrome if he could, he has even had surgery to help the way his face looks, even though it does not matter. In the the movie Katherine drinks coffee that is provided in her office and her coworkers look at her in disgust. Then, the next day she comes to work there is a coffee pitcher that says "colored" on it for colored people. This shows how the people in her workplace stereotype her and accuse her of nasty, because they don't want to drink coffee from the same jar she drinks from (Melfi 24:16-25:05). Another instance of unequal treatment shown in the movie is when Katherine has to go to the bathroom, since she is not allowed in the white bathroom she has to was 1km to go to the bathroom (Melfi 1:00:25-1:01:48). This is very unequal to people of color, because of this her boss asks her what she has been doing going to the bathroom for so long and not finishing her work. She explains how how she is being treated unequally and then her boss decided to change that. The boss decided to take Katherine's thoughts into consideration because she was the best calculator in the office.
