There are 6 steps to follow. First, I need to draft a preliminary pattern. Next, it is laying out pattern pieces. After that, I sew a prototype. When it’s done, I fit the garment on a mannequin. Finally, we correct the pattern and saw the final design. 

The first step is drafting a preliminary pattern. This step presents the idea in my design, and it helps me define what to do when sewing. To do this step, I use crayons, paper, and drawing tools, such as crayons, paper, colored pencils, etc… In order to create a rough sketch, I usually spend hours researching current fashion trends to create the design. 

The next step is laying out pattern pieces, I have to put all the attention while cutting with scissors and then fixing the fabrics with pins so that the sewing wouldn't wobble. 

After cutting the pattern, the next step is to sew a prototype sample. Before starting to sew the final dress, I need to carefully think about the design again. I choose the suitable type of sewing thread and pattern and start sewing. This is a vital step because the sample is actually a good tool to show everyone what I am doing. 

And then, I fit the garment on a mannequin with the same measurements as the design. This step helps me to detect incorrect errors in the pattern and I could check the details again. 

Finally, I will correct the pattern and sew the final design. In this step, I have to cut on the real fabric and start sewing. Scissors, sewing machine, fabric, and the correct pattern are needed in this process. This step usually takes me around 2 or 3 days to complete. While cutting and sewing, I have to be really careful because it depends a lot on my sewing skills to make a beautiful dress.

In this making dressing process, I think the most challenging step is cutting and sewing the sample garment. Because I need to do it exactly otherwise the final product would not be correct. And if I was asked about the most important step, I would say it’s the step of sawing the final design. Because I have to be very careful to make the seams not get wrinkled or faulty. 

Although I’m still a college student and my expertise in sawing garment items is not good enough, I hope my friend would love this dress.

The first problem I want to talk about is skipping stitches. It can be one skipped stitch or multiple skipped stitches between normally sewn stitches. Replacing a new needle is the primary way to follow. The needle may be slightly bent, even if you can not see it. I recommend this method because the needle is a replaceable part and the most inexpensive part of your sewing machine. Be sure you are using the correct size needle for the fabric you are sewing and turn off your power switch because, in the process of changing, you accidentally step on the pedal to make the machine work, which can injure you.

The next problem is that the fabric is not feeding under the needle. Several issues can cause fabric feed problems. If the feed dogs are not coming up to move the fabric, check to see if there is a setting that has lowered the feed dogs; if so, return them to their proper setting. if there is no such setting on your machine, take off the throat plate and clean out all dust, thread, and lint. Oil the machine according to your sewing machine manual. If the feed dogs still do not work, troubleshoot the problem with your sewing machine manual. Remember that while repairing the sewing machine you need to turn off the power of the machine for your safety. When all else fails, you should take the machine in for repairs.

Finally, one of the most common sewing machine problems is a jammed machine. Your first step toward a remedy is to remove any fabric you were trying to sew. This may require gently tugging at the fabric and lifting it enough that you can snip at the threads and pull the fabric free of the machine. Next, remove all the jammed threads; this may require removing the bobbin, the throat plate, and any other parts to release any jammed threads and get the machine sewing again. In the process of disassembling parts of the machine, you must have the position of those parts installed correctly.
