Takes everything into account such as the script, storyboard, costumes, props, target audience, floor plan and location and directs an effective video that covers all aspects that has been planned in the pre-production.

Producer

In charge of determining what type of images would be appropriate for the song, whether it is a live performance, an animated feature, a short film etc. The producer is responsible for working with the artist to find the best direction to take for representing a song. Also, purchases everything and helps to choose the correct brands.

Editor

Makes sure that everything is in order according to the script and storyboard.

Camera Person

Shoots the video whilst referencing the director’s ideas within the script and storyboard.

Out of all these four roles and which I’d prefer to do, my first choice in terms of preference would go from being the; Director, Editor, Producer and then the Camera Person. I’d like to take the role of the director the most because I feel that I have good leadership skills and that I’d be able to oversee everything that is happening whilst still doing other jobs at the same time. I think that after reading the job description of the director, I’d be able to do everything that is being asked of me.

For the project of creating a music video, I’d like to recreate the music video for Cry Me a River by Justin Timberlake. I’d like to recreate the video for this song because I feel as though creating a story to fit the song would be interesting because it’s rather open minded – you can do anything you want with it. Also, for a sad song the video has quite an upbeat tempo despite it being a ballad. Most ballads have slow tempos, which makes Cry Me A River different and more exciting to recreate. Also because the song has quite a dramatic meaning, it would be interesting to take things in my own perspective to create it. Also, the video could be filmed anywhere due to it not having said a precise location within the lyric - this also makes the video more precise to record due to not having to rent/hire an extravagant location to film it in.
