Sympodial:  form a stem that is more or less horizontal (Eg. Lady of the night)

 

 

Sympodial plants are special.  They can still survival even if it is cut in to  half

Monopodial: for a stem that is vertically upwards

 

1st activity

Help a monopodial orchid  to stand up straight in the pot 

 

Steps 

-Get a horizontal hard stick to support maintain the balance of the orchid 

-form a Cross (X) shape with the sticks 

-place  the  plant in the pot 

-put the cross in the middle of the plant 

-add charcoal till the pot is fully fill

 

2nd activity 

Uncle Tony gave us one plant of Lady Of The Night, we need to spilt it and put it into a small pot.  Add charcoal and water  and the plant is ours

 

 

 

 

3rd activity 

We use a machine called laminar flow .It is machine that sterilisers the bacteria in  the seed pot . Our job is to sterilised the seed and put it in  a tight  air  container 

 

 

Before doing  sterilising, we first have to clean the seed pot by using detergent, alcohol ,Clorox and deionised water.


So what 

I know that plants can be cut and replant  without killing its original plant 

  

Bacteria can be killed by this 

Machine, after completing the steps of how to sterilise the seed pot.


Now what 

-we learn how to help a plant maintain its 

Vertically growth.

-we need to water  the orchid once  every 3 days 

-spray 63 fertiliser  once every 2 week

-how to identify orchid if it is sympodial or monopodial
