The 18th Amendment is prohibition meaning the United States ban on alcohol from 1920 to 1933. Bootlegging is profiting from illegal goods while they are banned. The effect of the 18th Amendment is the ban on alcohol although it was banned people would still drink and sell. Criminal activities would rise during the ban making mobs and mafia perfect candidates for bootlegging. Examples of mob leaders were Al Capone, Vito Genovese, Dutch Schultz, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Siegal many others were part of mobs and fans these are the most commonly mentioned names through out the 20s.

The Red Scare

The Red Scare lasted from 1919 to 1920 this was when Americans feared immigrants due to World War I. Palmer Raids were raids operated by the U.S. Department of Justice to try and arrest immigrants due to the fear of World War I. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants who were guilty of killing two men during an armed robbery in April 1920.

During the 1920s sports were on the rise. Some of the most commonly spoken sports today started in the 20s such as Baseball, Football (American), tennis, Boxing, and many other sports. Some of the most commonly known sports figures today are Jack Dempsey, Babe Ruth, and Helen Wills. Jack Dempsey is one of the best heavyweight boxers of his time. Babe Ruth also known as the Greate Bambbeeno was known for baseball lasting 22 seasons. He was on 3 teams in his career: the Boston Red Socks, the New York Yankees, and the Boston Braves. Helen Wills was a famous Tennis player known for her record of 31 grand slam tournaments and 19 singles titles.

During the 1920s Music became the big rage commonly listened to music consisted of Blues, Jazz, and Country. 3 famous names for music are Louis Armstrong, Annette Hanshow, and Jelly Roll Morton. Louis Armstrong is known for his trumpet and his voice his most famous song is "What a Wonderful World". Annette Hanshow is known for her Voice as a Jazz singer her most popular song is "Happy Days Are Hear Again". Jelly Roll Marton is known for his Blues and Jazz music he is also known for his piano skills. Jelly Roll Blues is his most popular song.

Fun fact Annette's birthday is October 18th, Mine is the 19th and Jelly Roll Marton is the 20th.

Hiram Evans was The "Imperial Wizard of the KKK" essentially meaning leader of the Ku Klux Klan. He was known for leading a superminis group of people who would terrorize and hurt African Americans. One of the many courses of racial tension is the belief that white men were superior to African Americans. Dr.Ossian Sweet case was a doctor who was arrested for murdering a white mob member who tried to shoot at his home so his family and he were arrested for essentially protecting their home.

Some of the inventions invented in the 1920s were already made but were sold more because of their efficiency in producing their products. Products that came out during this time were band-aids, penicillin, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, electric razors, TV, radio, The instant camera, blender, fridges, pop-up toasters, quick freezing food, bread slicer, traffic signal, and select car models. All these products had impacts on this time making and America was very wealthy until the stock market crash during the 30s.
