Thaipusam is a religious festival for the Hindu to seek blessings and to fulfil vows. During the festival, Hindu devotees fulfil their vows to show their gratitude to Lord Murugan, by piercing their bodies with silver spikes and tying Kavadi on them before walking barefooted to the temple. Chinese New Year’s Eve is a day where the Chineses try their best to reunite with their family members on time especially for those who stay apart. On this day, everyone will gather around the table and enjoy the delicious food 🥂 🦞 in a laughter-filled atmosphere. After a sumptuous reunion dinner, all family members stay up all night as they believe that it can increase longevity of the elderly family members.

剪纸工作坊所需材料：一张 15cm x 15cm 的红色颜色纸、剪刀、笔和橡皮擦

中国结工作坊所需材料：大约 1.2 米的中国结线和 8 支针或大头针

灯笼工作坊所需材料：红色与黄色颜色纸各一张、彩带、红绳、美工刀、剪刀、长尺、订书机和双面胶纸

Amazed by Chinese traditional handicrafts? Want to learn something during the boring weekend? Please do not miss our first workshop which offers the tutorial on traditional paper cutting, Chinese knot and lantern making.

Details of the Workshop 1:

Materials needed for traditional paper cutting workshop: a piece of 15cm x 15cm red colour paper, scissors, pencil and eraser.

Materials needed for Chinese knot workshop: an approximately 1.2m long Chinese knot thread, and 8 needles or pins.

Materials needed for Chinese lantern workshop: a piece of red colour and yellow colour paper, ribbon, red thread, cutter, scissors, ruler, stapler and double-sided tape.
