Being in this ECE program has helped me be more confident, patient and understanding as an ECE worker. I have learnt how to support children’s development through play, positive guidance, observation and respectful communication.

How has your learning in this program benefited you as an ECE educator?

ECE program has help to me be able to communicate with most children in a better way, learning about the domains has really helped me to have a better understanding of how each child grows.

Guiding children for the module is really helping me get through the last few month of this program as there are a lot of good examples on how to manage the stress that comes and goes within the work force, there are a lot of ways on this course that has already helped me to pivot while working.

Also being open to understanding not just to the children but also to my coworkers, director and instructors.

Doing this program has helped me to give some good ideas to our director, not all are being done but it does take time to get things done.

Once I am done this program, I am hoping to have more opportunities, not just from the daycare but also the schools opt anywhere else as I’ll only become a casual worker once we are done this course. I am willing to be open to opportunities that come my way, whatever interest me.

How has this program been a learning experience?

First of all, I would like to thank you to the organization to let this program come to Baker because I was proud to try this program. Wanting to go second year because it will help in the long run. It will help me learn to be patience with the children. Learning different things everyday with them. Showing children aren’t all the same. They all learn to do things on their own pace. It will help me grow and learn every day.

How this program benefited me was the help and learning about our Inuit culture and traditions, it helped me improve to observe the children in the daycare, it taught me a lot about how to communicate with all children, taught me how to be patient with the children. and also, to communicate with our colleagues about the children, what needs to be done, working together in the daycare….

Learning in this program benefitted me as an ECE educator by better showing me the mandates, guidelines and health and safety of Daycare, better understanding of the 5 developments, learned to communicate better with parents, supporting our children more effectively, better ways of communicating with our colleagues.

Learning in the ECE program helped me understand more about the developmental domains. Taught me more patients with the children, colleges, and supervisor. Helped me learn about different ways children develop, helped me to communicate in different ways with the children like if they lose interest in circle time can use puppets to gain their attention more.

This has benefited me in so many ways, able to stay in our hometown and going home to the family we have created.

Work-wise, learning as we go each day through the course and going to work, it has taught me to try to be more confident, to help the children learn at daycare, uplifting them, teaching them confidence and help them understand what they will be needing to be doing in school. It has given me the opportunities to be a teacher for work and a mom at home, also teaching me that we have to be more patient as they learn. Learning more about being an educator, their development and how it’s important to follow thru schedules.

Learning in this ECE program has helped me in ways I never thought I’d learn on my own as an early childhood educator. It has helped me learn that each child has their own developmental growth, get to notice that child’s behavior it can be a reaction to what making them upset, how to communicate better with the children’s families, and how to set up the daily schedule, understanding that children will thrive on a routine.

Learning in this program has helped me understand children better, and a lot that I had no clue of. I learned that it is important to keep cultural traditions in my ECE program, how to support children through their learning/development in respectful ways. This has also taught me how important it is to connect with family and community. I feel more confident knowing I have my classmates to guide and support me to deliver a safe and caring environment for children.

It helps me to learn how to speak/comfort a child. I learned a lot of new things I didn’t know of. Gave me a bit of more experience on how to work with a child. Most of all how to talk to a child that is upset or mad, taught me how to calm them down. How to do art and reading them books.
