Today we learned the basics of lesson planning and how to structure them. We learned how to start the class with something that prepares them for the lesson and we learned about many different elements of planning.

This is useful as an educator because if a lesson or class period is poorly planned, it will be hard for students to focus and they will struggle to learn anything. Our planning performance reflects on us as educators.

This gives us helpful insight and knowledge for how we will plan in our future classrooms. It is important to keep all of this in mind in the classroom, and the more we practice all the elements of planning, the better we will become at it.

Aubrey Mitchell

1. We learned about Anticipatory sets and looked at the similarities and differences behind Anticipatory sets and bellwork. We also learned different way to approach a lesson and how we can make sure our lessons are effective.

2. We need to understand these things so then when we are teaching in a class we are not lost. Its also important to understand the different strategies within planning so we can reach and help all our future students

3. This fits with what we are learning because it prepares us and gives us ideas for future use in a classroom

Ethan

1.)What did we learn today?

Today, we learned about lesson plan components. This included bellwork and anticipatory sets, proactive management, attention and direction, transitions, grouping, pacing, and closure.

2.) So what?

This will be very relevent to when we make our lesson plans for class, and especially relevent for when we are actually teaching. Lesson planning has a lot of components that go into it, and now we don't just know what the components are, but we know why those things work as well! It is definately good to have a strategy for planning your classroom, that way you are more organized and have better facilitation of the information you are teaching.

3.) Now what?

I think that next, we will be applying the things we learned today into the lesson plans we will be working on, and keep referencing today's lesson for the future. This helps us to be more focused on the specifics of what goes into a lesson and why. I think it helps to be more mindful of the way we are thinking about lessons and classroom management.

Elena Koske

1. We first learned about Anticipatory sets and how they engage students into class and we also learned about bell work and why we should use it with a compare and contrast. We then learned about planning and the 6 things that go into making it good.

This is useful because these things that we are learning help us becoming better teachers in the future. It helps keep out future students engaged and how to properly do that with lesson planning and and things that happen at the beginning and end of the lesson.

We are learning about lesson planning and how to be an effective teacher so I think this class today was very helpful with getting out minds moving about ways we can keep class entertaining but also knowledgeable. I think we can predict that we are getting into the hang of preparing lesson plans and getting into habit of thinking of new ways to create said lesson plans.

Malya Bussinger

What did we learn today? Lesson Plan Components , Types of Anticipatory Sets.

So what? Now i am able to use Anticipatory sets to get my students more engaged, how to get my students more interactive, how to give out the correct directions with pacing and timing.

Now what? We are learning how to be successful in the classroom and wanting our students to succeed and be engaged. this helps us by setting this students up for success and showing students that learning does not have to be something they hate but they love with the right teaching techniques that will best support them. Such as how we get student’s attention, how we give directions, how we transition into something new, how we group up students that works best for them and their learning needs. making sure we give students the time they need for work in class.

Reyna

It gave us ideas on what to expect in each part and how it could look like.

Now, I can start thinking how i would want my structure to flow. I can expect to continue building on this concept, draft a complete lesson plan, and start practicing delivering it.

-Giselle Diaz
