Como uma das fases de desenvolvimento do nosso projeto, fizemos também uma participação na 13° Feira Brasileira de trabalhos de iniciação científica na educação básica técnica (Febrat), que teve como objetivo a elaboração de uma resumo expandido, que teve o tema (corais vivos e cultura oceânica: uma experiência de conscientização no território).

Com tudo o intuito desse diário é abordar todos os temas que tivemos durante o processo pra concretizar um ideia base, e que tudo o que foi visto durante o processo fosse colocado em prática.

No dia 8 de maio, realizamos a primeira visita ao assentamento. A acolhida da comunidade foi calorosa, e a força coletiva se fez presente desde o início. Conhecemos de perto o cultivo da mandioca, alimento central na vida das famílias, mas também escutamos sobre os desafios enfrentados: as chuvas irregulares e o calor mais intenso têm comprometido a produção. Percebemos que até culturas tradicionalmente resistentes, como a mandioca, já sofrem os impactos das mudanças climáticas.

Poucos dias depois, em 13 de maio, realizamos uma visita técnica em Trancoso e ao Projeto Coral Vivo, em Arraial d’Ajuda. Ali, tivemos contato com soluções construtivas e aprendemos sobre a importância dos ecossistemas marinhos. Foi nesse momento que compreendemos a amplitude da cultura oceânica, tema central da FEBRAT. Percebemos que ela vai muito além do mar: conecta-se a rios, chuvas e ao equilíbrio da vida, estando diretamente relacionada à realidade do campo.

Em 29 de julho, nossa orientadora nos lançou o desafio de relacionar as experiências no assentamento ao tema da feira. Esse foi o ponto de partida para refletirmos sobre os impactos climáticos na produção da mandioca e para enxergar as conexões entre agricultura, clima e oceanos.

A partir de agosto, mergulhamos em leituras e pesquisas. O livro Mulheres Assentadas – Mães de Todas as Lutas nos revelou o protagonismo feminino na resistência do campo. Também estudamos os relatórios do IPCC (2023) e artigos sobre agroecologia. Aos poucos, percebemos como os relatos das famílias dialogavam diretamente com a ciência: chuvas desreguladas e altas temperaturas ameaçam o cultivo da mandioca e a segurança alimentar.

Entre essas etapas, em 5 de junho, participamos do Seminário da I Unidade. Foi uma experiência marcada por nervosismo e orgulho. Nossa apresentação não foi apenas acadêmica, mas também um ato de partilha: levamos para além do assentamento as vozes e vivências do Baixa Verde.

No dia 10 de julho, retornamos ao assentamento e conhecemos a família que receberia a casa projetada. A partir desse encontro, o projeto deixou de ser apenas desenho e papel: ganhou rostos, vozes e sonhos concretos.

De 20 de agosto a 14 de setembro, vivemos intensos dias de escrita e revisão do resumo expandido. Foram muitas discussões e ajustes até que, no dia 14, concluímos o texto e o enviamos à FEBRAT.

Finalmente, em 16 de setembro, iniciamos a escrita do Diário de Bordo. A decisão foi clara: não registrar apenas um relatório técnico, mas construir uma memória viva. Cada etapa, cada diálogo e cada aprendizado se tornaram parte de uma narrativa coletiva que une ciência, território e esperança.

As part of the development stages of our project, we also participated in the 13th Brazilian Fair of Scientific Initiation Projects in Basic and Technical Education (FEBRAT), which required the elaboration of an expanded abstract under the theme “Living Corals and Ocean Culture: An Awareness Experience in the Territory.”

Therefore, the purpose of this logbook is to address all the topics we worked on throughout the process in order to consolidate a basic idea, ensuring that everything learned during the journey was effectively put into practice.

It was observed that, through this visit, the class was introduced to ocean culture in a sensitive and objective way, gaining an understanding of the importance of these organisms for biodiversity and climate balance. The direct contact enabled students to realize how corals are symbols of ocean culture and highlight the impacts of climate change.

We carried out a guided visit to a coral conservation area, where we observed their ecological diversity and vulnerability. The experience was integrated with bibliographic and documentary research on ocean culture and its impacts on our territory. The visit reinforced the perception that corals are fundamental for climate regulation, coastal protection, and biodiversity maintenance. From tourists to fishers, all are in some way affected by the climate changes related to this issue.

We noticed that the lack of knowledge about coral bleaching due to ocean warming and acidification makes local awareness of these changes more difficult. In this way, we connected the practical experience with the principles of ocean culture advocated by UNESCO.

The experience with living corals showed that practical educational activities are effective in bringing students closer to ocean culture, allowing them to recognize the relevance of protecting marine ecosystems as a strategy to confront climate change. For this reason, our research aims to encourage educational projects such as workshops, discussion circles, and school campaigns, with the purpose of leading students to a more conscious perspective regarding ocean culture and the impact of climate change in our territory and in Brazil.

On May 8, we carried out our first visit to the settlement. The community welcomed us warmly, and the collective strength was evident from the very beginning. We got to know the cultivation of cassava up close—an essential food in the lives of the families—but we also heard about the challenges they face: irregular rainfall and rising heat have been compromising production. We realized that even traditionally resistant crops, such as cassava, are already suffering the impacts of climate change.

A few days later, on May 13, we conducted a technical visit to Trancoso and to the Coral Vivo Project in Arraial d’Ajuda. There, we came into contact with constructive solutions and learned about the importance of marine ecosystems. It was at this moment that we understood the breadth of ocean culture, the central theme of FEBRAT. We realized that it goes far beyond the sea: it is connected to rivers, rainfall, and the balance of life, being directly related to rural realities.

On July 29, our advisor challenged us to relate the experiences in the settlement to the theme of the fair. This became the starting point for reflecting on the climate impacts on cassava production and for recognizing the connections between agriculture, climate, and oceans.

From August onward, we immersed ourselves in readings and research. The book Women Settlers – Mothers of All Struggles revealed to us the leading role of women in rural resistance. We also studied the IPCC (2023) reports and articles on agroecology. Little by little, we realized how the families’ testimonies directly aligned with science: irregular rainfall and high temperatures threaten cassava cultivation and food security.

Among these stages, on June 5, we participated in the First Unit Seminar. It was an experience filled with both nervousness and pride. Our presentation was not only academic but also an act of sharing: we carried beyond the settlement the voices and experiences of Baixa Verde.

On July 10, we returned to the settlement and met the family who would receive the designed house. From that encounter, the project ceased to be only drawings and paper: it gained faces, voices, and concrete dreams.

From August 20 to September 14, we went through intense days of writing and revising the expanded abstract. There were many discussions and adjustments until, on the 14th, we finalized the text and submitted it to FEBRAT.

Finally, on September 16, we began writing the Logbook. The decision was clear: not to register merely a technical report, but to construct a living memory. Each stage, each dialogue, and each learning experience became part of a collective narrative that unites science, territory, and hope.
