I would like to know if her family got properly compensated after? Research ethics and informed consents are important since the participants has the right to know what is going to happen and possible consequences that might occur.

In my opinion, if there are participants in research, the most important thing is just to ensure Ethical Approval and to make the research transparent. To be specific, participants should be informed about the purpose of the study, the use of their data, and the intended results. if not, the privacy or even the human right of those participants will be harmed, and the research will become a behavior of stealing of private data.

I feel empathetic for Henrietta Lacks because she obviously did not consent to her cells being used in such a way. However, I can't help but feel somewhat utilitarian about this, as her cells have revolutionized medicine, and it is likely that without these cells, the world of today would not be the same. Despite these mixed feelings, I am a strong proponent of research ethics--it is important to always maintain a moral and righteous perspective in research

The story of Henrietta Lacks reminds me that the importance of research ethics has to be applied as a researcher despite the scale of the experiment. The video also mentioned that there is a group of vulnerable populations which did not protected and had been used as part of the experiment without their full consent. Therefore, it is necessary for us as modern researchers to inform the participants and be transparent about the experiment during the process.

This example of research ethics shows the importance of consent as the research was conducted after the passing of Henrietta Lacks but no consent was given prior to her passing either. This could have been avoided if researchers had offered this opportunity to her prior to her death, similar to organ donors, all are asked for consent to write it on their legal ID.

I think if someone's cells are being used to conduct research, they should be informed and their consent should also be taken.

Most of unethical ones we can hear usually are bad but harmless. However, if there is no rule for this, we can not expect what will be done in the next experiment.

It is undeniable that HeLa cells helped hundreds of thousands of people, but at the same time, to use it is unethical. Human beings have to seek a balance between them, although we are frequently making mistakes throughout history.

Without her consent, doctors took a sample of her cancerous cells, which later became the first immortal human cell line which is called HeLa. This cell is very unique because it never be die and it can divide indefinitely. this unique cell does lots of distributions

I am surprised by the lack of research ethics in that period. The fact that African Americans were tested without their consent is a huge issue. Research ethics and informed consent are important so that patients are aware of how their information is being used, what type of treatment they may be receiving, etc. It's an issue of free will and privacy.
