Hello everyone, my name is Esteban and I am majoring in Business with a concentration on Marketing. I hope to find a career with a company of something that has to do with marketing. one of my hobbies include playing and watching basketball.

To me, sustainability means to be able to keep doing something at a steady pace or to continue to grow whatever you are doing. I try to practice sustainability by keeping the main thing at the center of attention, try not to get distracted by anything too much and just stay focused on whatever you are trying to achieve.

When I think of information literacy I think of being able to correctly analyze the information you are being given. I also think of books and writing because of the word literacy.

I would like to know more about these terms and what the deeper meaning to all of them throughout the semester

The problem that I chose is how are wildfires affecting different ecosystems throughout California. Different ecosystems are being affected by this during every wildfire season their homes, habitats and food is all affected during it.

This topic falls under the environmental pillar of sustainability. California's forest's and all of it's ecosystems are involved in this.

I definitely think the wildfires that have been affecting different ecosystems throughout California have been increasing throughout the years because of obviously more lethal or deadly wildfires. Many different animals and their habitats have been affected by this while it continues to happen.

This research is important because if we want to keep a lot of ecosystems that we rely on to not go away we should do something about it. It is also important to keep land from not getting damaged such as farmland. This research is important to me because I was born and raised in California and I would like to keep the state in best shape as we can.

I hope to learn a lot about this topic while researching it. I would like to learn more about the uprising rates of wildfires each season and how we can continue to protect our ecosystem within it

Rhetorical Analysis

The article that I chose to write about is called "A Year After George Floyd Killing, Fewer Americans Support Black Lives Matter Movement, Poll Finds" by Palash Ghosh. This article's main argument was that 48% of adults in the U.S. currently hold favorable views on Black Lives Matter and that it is down from 61% since last May. The technique that I first identified was Logos. I found that this was logos because of all the studies that are shown in the article the statistics and the use of logical arguments. An example of this is found in the article. Ghosh states, "An overwhelming 77% of Americans approved of the conviction last month of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of Floyd in an earlier Morning Consult poll. But even here there was some divergence by race: 91% of Blacks approved of the ruling while 75% of whites did. Moreover, 23% of whites did not think Chauvin’s conviction served the interests of justice, versus 13% of Blacks." This quote shows that this article is definitely the rhetorical technique logos. A lot of these statistics are shown throughout the article. This helps the author Ghosh because he is backing up his article with real facts and statistics and using logical arguments. In my opinion. the information is continuing the conversation by a lot because its something to discuss and give thought to. It makes the reader think about what they just read and try to give an opinion on it.
