1.) Who's Missing from The Canon? Why?
2.) What can we do About it?
3.) What does it mean to "interrogate" the canon?

- Women and People of color are missing from the canon.
-The only thing that we can do about is to be open to all different kinds of music because I believe that we as human in general have a closed eye to music that we are not used to listening to. In a way I believe it is ignorance because we are immediately opposed to it due to the fact that we maybe uneducated to the background and culture of that genre.
-To interrogate the canon means to question how and why the genre generated.

-I noticed that there was not any kinds of African symphony music present on the list which is odd because although it is not as popular or similar to classical music it still deserves the same recognition . Even with African-American composers after years of fighting for equal recognition, their symphony orchestras are not as great as people with fair skin due to the fact that the people who started the genre looked similar to them. In a New York Times article, composer T.J Anderson stated "We've been invisible". This quote proves the division between the classical music world.

How does the group innovate the musically? By performing popular music? By performing a few pieces outside of the canon

-I believe by performing popular music because I would not be interested in listening to something that I was not used to. For example, in television music auditions such as American Idol or X Factor, judges do not like to listen to any original songs made by the artist so they are in a way forced to use a popular song that they know in order to then move on to the next level.

-No, due to the fact that I'm more of an Afrobeats kind of girl. Although I am not completely opposed to getting into symphony orchestras, my personality would not work with that genre of music.
