After menopause when the ovaries (in women) stop producing oestrogen the stored fat cells in the body take over this role and produces the hormone.&nbsp;<br><br>Oestrogen can cause the breast and womb cells to divide, so an excess of the hormone causes an increase division of these cells, that may get out of control( which in essence is what cancer is).</div>]]></description>
