Day 1: I used to think that inquiry is a process where the teacher guides the students to make connections and sense of the information learned. Now I think that cooperation between students and teachers is crucial for inquiry and that teachers need to reflect upon and apply different strategies in order to inspire students and encourage their personal-inquiry. Please provide more examples of how personal-inquiry can be encouraged within a classroom and different strategies to do so.

I used to think inquiry is student initiated, on the fly learning where you build on students background knowledge and interests.
Now, I think to build on their background knowledge we need really personal experiences for them to connect with.
I still have questions about how inquiry can work when you feel you don't have the resources you need. Is it acceptable to ask students to do the research on thier own at home? And then, unpack the information at school? What if they don't have the resources at home or do not do the research?

My questions concerned types of student action and holding students responsible for their own learning. The first was not clearly addressed (maybe it will be so on Day 2). However, the second was addressed. The strategies provided (and which we completed together as a group) gave me an awareness of ways to have students inquire more actively and take greater responsibility for their own learning. I will explore more strategies to use.
I used to think that inquiry took lots of time and resources, but now I think that it is easily possible to bring inquiry to life and in a flash.

I still believe that I have much more to learn and possibly many more ways to integrate various strategies into my teaching methods. I am surely looking forward to Day 2.

I don't really think that question has been answered, although I have been given new information that could potentially help me answer my own question, as my question was about specific activities that we can use to encourage inquiry in classrooms with young students.

My understanding of inquiry hasn't changed much. Actually, I feel a bit confused after the workshop. Could you please provide more information about how to implement inquiry in the classroom with some examples of activities that have worked well at your school?

I liked that we had to collaborate and share our ideas with our group members and with the whole group. That was very insightful as I learn better when I work with others. However, I still have many doubts, I would like to learn more about inquiry, how to help my students and improve my teaching. I understood that it is fine to start the inquiry asking questions and provoking our students, that was what I was doing up to now. I used to think that wasn't the way we were supposed to do it.

Yesterday was very helpful, especially the different techniques used to get us talking and participating. My ideas about inquiry haven't changed, I just find it difficult to take the theory and put it into practice. I find it easier to think of hypothetical examples and situations, yet difficult to incorporate my ideas with my class.

Day 1: I think that the workshop we had gave me some important tools to use during my class time with students. It was very useful to share and hear other teachers’ ideas and experiences. I realised how important it is to find diversified strategies to engage the students and help them follow my lessons. I also reflected on the fact that my role should concentrate on trying to get the students to communicate more and not concentrate immediately on the academic achievements.
