This is a Bluebonnet Book award winner. This is a poem response.

The moving feeling that the touch of a violin gives Ada is shown through the movement of her fingers and the tone of her violin's sound.

Music is what brings Ada's voice out. Louder and louder she plays, others around her hear what needs to be said through her playing.

There is no need for Ada to have an expensive instrument. With resources that were given to her from her grandmother, Ada took the challenge to make beautiful music out of pieces of garbage.

Music can be made through different kinds of ways. From the smallest piece of imagination to the biggest piece of garbage, music is beautiful because it comes from the passion of the heart of the musician playing their instrument.

With every page turn, the words and pictures in this book provide readers more insight of who these baseball players were, what they went through, and how the struggle of being in this time era led them to standing up for what they believe in and going out to be the best baseball players they could be, despite what many critics and people around them said. Without any of this information, this book would definitely be hard to follow as well as readers being confused about what part of history the author was talking about and the different kinds of players playing in this league.

This is a book review response of a previous Texas Bluebonnet award winner.

Riding Freedom is all about a girl named Charlotte that stopped at nothing for fighting for what she wanted and believed in. She kept acting the way she did with horses, despite of what people were saying about her. By using her brains and determination, Charlotte came up with the idea to become "Charley" so she can be able to get away from the life she was living and become the person she wanted to be. No one would stop her from doing that. During this time period, women across the United States were fighting for the right to vote. It was hard being a female during this time period in history, but as history has shown, women kept fighting and look where we are today.
This book is great for young girls to read because it shows that if they put their heart to something and work hard, the fight will be worth it in the end. This book shows that these young girls have a voice and it deserves to be heard.
This book is an amazing read for readers of all ages, young or old. I would definitely recommend this book to every student in my own classroom someday.

This is a Traditional Tales book that I am doing a book review over.

If you are looking for a crazy twist and a unpredictable ending to a well known story, then this is definitely the book for you.

As a first time reader/listener to this book, I thought that this would be the classic tale of the three little pigs. I was proved wrong! It goes to show that you can't assume that every story is alike.

This version of this classic tale brings a creative twist of well know nursery rhymes and a mythological creature into the story. The three pigs are telling the wolf to go away and not blow their houses in, but find themselves in other stories. They finally get back to their own story and the wolf is defeated by the pigs, the dragon, and a cat.

I didn't like this version the first time I read it because it strayed away from the classic story I know. After watching it a second time, I really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy it as well.

This book is a Caldecott Award winning book. This is a Book Review post.

This book is an easy read for children, students, and parents to read when it is time for bed. The pages within this book are black and white, but the light that happens in the dark of night is yellow to shine bright for everyone to see. With the book beginning and ending with talking about the key to the house, the story brings to life what comforts us in our house during the day and during the night. This book reminds readers that no matter if you are in the dark or the light, there is always a key to help you get through anything.

For me, this was a very different kind of book to read. After reading it, I definitely realized that there was a meaning behind it.

The genre of this book is Realistic Fiction. This is a Defining Quote response.

"From this day on and forever, I will never use the word PEN again. Instead, I will use the word FRINDLE, and I will do everything possible so others will, too."

When I was in elementary, I remember reading this book and this quote caught my eye. Today, as a 20 year old, this quote still caught my eye out of the whole book.

This quote shows so much passion that Nick had for wanting to use a new and interesting word that explains an object that we call by a well known name. Nick wanted to start a revolution when it came to using words and becoming acquainted with the dictionary. Even with Mrs. Granger and others that knew Nick were trying to stop him from doing this, Nick found a way. After the "fad" of this word died down in his world, a revolution of using "frindle" was still on fire with others across the nation. Once Nick grew up, he realized his push to use this word wasn't for nothing. His word was put in the dictionary for the world to see and use.

This quote is a reminder to readers that anything is possible with putting your mind to it and never giving up.

This is an Autobiography/Biography book. I am using a free choice of mine to do a Summary response over this book.

Daniel Boone (1734-1820) is known as a famous American pioneer whose explorations across the United States let to the discovery and settlement of Kentucky. Boone represents our American ideals of freedom and independence. By spending a lot of time alone in the wilderness, Boone came to understand what it takes to survive as well as appreciating what our Founding Fathers did to mold the start of our country and nation. Boone made sure to represent American ideals every where he went. Growing up and even as an adult, Boone endured through so much during this time period. From building a settlement to fighting off Native Americans, Boone had a heart for his family, country, nation, and fighting to the death. This book provides readers a front row seat to the life story of this inspiring American figure.

Growing up, I would always be watching the different versions of the stage play as well as the Disney cartoon version of the movie. My grandma supported my love for Peter Pan by making me a picture with the words of the song that Mrs. Darling sang to her children at night.
As a college student, I still love and am a huge fan of Peter Pan. This quote is a daily reminder for me that my dreams can come true and that I shouldn't rush to grow up. This quote reminds me to focus on the task at hand and to not worry about what is to come tomorrow. I truly believe that this story helps readers believe in themselves, their dreams, and reminds them to be happy throughout all of the stages in life.

Maniac Magee is all about a boy who goes from not having a home, friends, or a purpose in life, to having a home and friends that provides him a purpose in life.

As you are reading this story, take into consideration of what racism can do to a city. With the town in this story being split in half, no one has ever been dared to go to one another's "end" of the town. As Maniac is learning what is going on in the town, the kids of both white and black races come together to play a game, despite the color of their skins and what the rules of their town have done to everyone around them.

Maniac Magee will provide you a story of a young boy's struggle and provide you with a wide awakening of how overcoming struggle can make a person even stronger than they were.

I hope you enjoy reading this story.

I know that I did.

Sincerely,

Kayla Brown
