The Word of the Year for me is normal. I want everything to go back to normal. This year and part of last year has been crazy. I never really expected my first day of highschool to be done in my room, online on a Zoom call. But I understand that I need to do what it takes to keep people safe. Then the pandemic will simmer down a bit. In the mean time, Zoom meetings, online classes, and staying inside will become my new normal.

I had a lot of friends in my PE class and we used to hangout a lot after class. During the last day of PE, when it was our last period, went near a grassy area and hangout and did karaoke. Those who know about the Space Shuttle Columbia mission also knows that no astronaut from the mission survived from disaster. The space shuttle disintegrated during the re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. Her father wasn't supportive of career choice, claiming that she should choose a career that was for "girls." Her father was under the pressure of a famous saying in Indian society: "What will people say?" As you can tell, she did not listen to him and did not care what people thought of her. Chowla was different than the Indian women at the time. Many would do what their parents had said and get "girl" jobs or become housewives. She inspired me to not to listen what society will think, but what will I think of myself. If I choose do this one thing, that will please society but not me, is it even worth it? The main purpose of life suddenly is to live for other people, not for yourself. Her story was something I could see in some of my older aunts and my grandmothers. In many South Asian countries, women are declined of education and higher education. They become forced to be become housewives and such. Why this is my favorite is that whenever I pick up this book and read, it calms be down.
