         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some consequences from 1962, Tanganyika Laughter Epidemic was that Schools closed temporarily, people were unable to complete work. Also some people suffered from  symptoms that included dizziness, nausea, rashes, and even became violent, respiratory problem, attacks of crying , random screaming and also thought that someone was out to get them these symptoms could last  from a couple of hours to sixteen days.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are several possible explanations to why the laughter started, Kamala said, "Maybe those who laugh have an element of madness coming into their brains." They could be considered fits of anxiety-included with included laughter. One cause could be the stress that was caused by unfamiliar expectations imposed in the British run schools and uncertainties created by Tanganyika's independence.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On March 18, 95 of 159 middle and high school girls had been affected. Schools shut down and when the girls went home the laughter spread from Tanganyika to surrounding villages. By May 21 dozens more came down with the symptoms; the epidemic had spread beyond the school and Tanganyika.</div>]]></description>

The  girls in Tanganyika left their families and villages, the only place they've ever known, to go live with strangers in an unfamiliar place .They were exposed to strict Western style education and to Christian morality for the first time. This was much different than the tribal values that the girls grew up with.</div>]]></description>
