Presently there came & quivering glow that vaguely revealed the foliage for a moment and then vanished.”

This is an example of imagery because the text describes the darkness and then the sudden lightning strike in a very detailed way. I think that this is a great piece of descriptive language because it really creates a picture in the reader’s mind. When a reader reads this part they can imagine the pitch black darkness then quickly changing into the quivering glow that illuminates their surroundings. They can see the foliage around the boys briefly light up as the lightning strikes. This is why this piece of descriptive language is so good, it’s because the reader can really feel the words of the text.

I chose this quote because it’s very descriptive and it’s a hyperbole, meaning that it’s an exaggeration and I think it was very well written. This quote really helps us picture how intense the storm was. It’s also personification because the storm itself can’t literally tear the island up.

“A faint moan came sighing through the branches the branches of the forest,” (126)

This is describing the wind coming from the forest 🌳. This is an example of personification because it is saying something only a human can do. I thought this piece of descriptive language because it describes the wind without saying it
