A multi-genre research project is a way of pulling together different art and writing forms to express a perspective about a specific topic. The different genres are able to provide readers with better understanding about the topic because not every person can connect the same way.

A Multi-Genre Research Project implements various genre conventions to explore a specific topic in depth. There are smooth transitions between each genre and each genre discusses a different aspect of the topic. For instance, some narratives are better told in certain genres. Spongebob Squarepants would not be entertaining for children if it were accompanied by the genre conventions of horror tropes: creepy music and ominous shadows.

A multi-genre research project is both a personal narrative of the researcher and of the subject whether that be a person, place, or even event. One of the best transitions that was viewed was a table of contents to help organize what the different genres would be used, when in the collection to find them, and the titles for them.
