I often check in with them to see what they like in class, what they would like to see more of in class and what they struggled with. I find that if you have a good relationship with your students you can get very valuable information from their feedback.

I didn't know what students were going to say. My principal surveyed every student in the 5 classes I taught so she had to read through 150 student evaluations. They were really good but what an initimidating experience to be on the hot seat.
