I think you would have to have a check mark system and go through and make sure all students have posted. Unfortunately, padlet is not a good way to communicate in my classroom, but in other rooms it would be good for posting student questions and answers. I think technology is extremely beneficial. In my classroom it has helped to give some students a voice and a way to communicate.

I'm not sure which application you're asking about, but I like to use padlet to have vocabulary lists that I then link to in Canvas. Having a picture with the word's definition is very beneficial. 3. Yes, technology is very beneficial. Students will be required to be comfortable with technology in all aspects of their lives, so it is important.

Q1: I feel in order to make sure that all students post is not to move on until they do. However, I am sure there are other strategies that would be more effective. I just don't know of them as I have not used this application before.
Q2: I feel this is a great discussion board. I may post a question or an objective and have students submit their reflection as a sticky. They could be anonymous or not, so that the students do not feel bad about their responses. I see this being utilized a lot more in my classroom thanks to your information.
Q3: I feel using technology as an educator is very beneficial, however, I feel it is also necessary these days in order to keep up with the pace the world is moving. It does cause issues in class as it constantly fails, but that is a lesson we can teach our students in and of itself. I myself prefer to use it when at all possible. I just have not used it enough in the past.

Question 1:
Make the posts a grade and if they do not post they do not get a grade or get a poor grade.
Question 2: I would use padlet as an alternative for posting information for warm ups. I think that it can break the monotony of everyday canvas warm ups.
Questions 3: I strongly believe that using technology is beneficial in the classroom. I think that the world is moving more towards a technology driven world and away from pen and paper and so should the classroom. Now I still believe that pen and paper is a very needed skill but a healthy balance between the two is essential.
I do have issues with technology in the classroom but I only have issues at the beginning when I am rolling it out. I look at the issues and struggles just like any task that is difficult at first. It will be a struggle and then with practice you will master it and I have seen this ten-fold with my students.

1. I would just take it as a grade. If they do it to meet your requirements, hundred, if they don't do it, zero.

2. I've used it plenty of times, mainly for exit tickets.

3. I love using technology in the classroom. It makes it more fun for the students, and for me as well. It allows you to mix up the way you present information, as opposed to the lecture type method. There are issues of course, whether it be problems with the netbook working, the device being broken, and things of that nature. However, those are issues we deal with now, and the students will deal with in their workplace later in life.

Q1: If I notice students have eerily similar answers, I speak to both students and decide from there what to do. Normally, I give students a 50 and have them do corrections up to a 75 when that happens. If I notice it becoming a recurring thing with the same students, I give them a 0 and write them up for academic misconduct. I set these standards before we begin using Padlet.
Q2: I think Padlet would be a great way for students to collaborate on a specific project. It would also be a great place for students to add ideas to. For example, students can refer to the Padlet for themes they are noticing during a novel.
Q3: I think technology can be beneficial if used correctly. It can also be a deterrent for bad behavior if you plan engaging technology lessons.

I think technology is not just helpful, but if you’re not using technology to teach you are doing your students a disservice. Anything you do in your class is going to have problems. That’s the name of the game. But, if you care about your student then you should take some time to learn technology and how to best use it to help them achieve higher things.

If you can get your students comfortable using this app they will be rewarded by learning to use technology in your classroom in a new way that will give them confidence which is the most important aspect of the unique situation in which you teach. Great job

#1) Excellent Question! Maybe have students write their post on paper first (could even be as bell work or intro activity) and then post to the padlet. Utilize the padlet to have students engage in conversation with their peers across course sections, schools, etc.
#2) Padlet could be used for a lot! Exit tickets, bell ringers, reflections and much more!
