Flaw: confidence and boasting

Society: ancient rome, strength, courage, and confidence are valued highly

Passage: His society and situation caused the flaw. When he gets captured as a gladiator and is forced to give the audience a show he develops into a confident and boastful person. This ends up as his demise when he makes the king so mad he cheats in a fight and kills him.

Flaw: His love for Juliet makes him kill himself

Society: Romeo is from Verona, during the fourteenth century

Passage: Romeo’s obsession over Juliet is what ends up being his downfall. He kills himself after thinking Juliet is dead. Society does not play a role in his trait. He seems to have been born with the trait of being a hopeless romantic

Flaw - One believes he has to do only bad while the other believes he must do only good.

Society - They both come from far away planets, but come to earth as kids so when one ends up in a rich family's house and the other lands in a literal prison. This warps each of their world views. With Metroman him being forced to only do things for the city makes him burnout and he abandons the city. When the city becomes threatened Megamind, the villain, must change and save the city at his own expense.

Flaw: Their love for each other complicates things between their families ultimately leads to their deaths

Society: Romeo lives in the Montague family while Juliet is a Capulet. In this society, these two families have an ongoing feud with each other which is why it was shameful for Romeo and Juliet to fall in love. 

Passage: Juliet was willing to sacrifice her life in order to be with Romeo. This shows a characteristic of a hero, but it causes Romeo to believe that she was dead when she wasn't, which explains his tragic flaw and leads to his death of both Romeo and Juliet. 

Flaw: He starts believing in fate immediately 

Society: It takes place in the 1300s. Romeo is a boy who falls in love with the daughter of a feuding family. 

Passage: Romeo sort of falls victim to the beliefs of his society. When Juliet fakes being dead, Romeo believes that it is fate that caused this and that fate should take him as well. When Juliet wakes and sees her love dead she kills herself. It is not only fate but it is also his actions and choices that cause his downfall/death. 

Flaw- He is a vampire and he chooses to feed off of people instead of animals. However, he still saves his brother’s life several times. 

Culture- Damon Salvatore lives in Mystic Falls, Virginia in the 2000s.

Passage- Damon’s choice to feed off of people is a result of the society he lives in because they were not accepting of vampires and wanted to kill each of them. This made him angry and drove him to feed off of the citizens of Mystic Falls. 

Flaw- His love for his girlfriend Jess causes him to become just another hunter and get back into the life no one wanted for him

Society- Sam lives in Kansas but travels the U.S. in modern day 

Passage- Sam loving Jess and wanting revenge for her death made him fall into the hunting life. His love for Jess didn’t come from society. 

Flaw- He has too much trust in what he sees, with no further proof or explanation. 

Society- Romeo lives in a divided society where two families have past conflict, causing them to forever hold grudges against each other. He lived in Italy in the 14th century.

Passage- His flaw is not caused by the society that he lives in. This flaw is a common human flaw that anyone can have. Many feel this way based on the way that they are raised, not the society that they live in. He immediately acts on the fact that he believes Juliet is dead, killing himself and leading to his downfall.

Hercules

His flaw...his love for a girl draws him to save her and do everything it takes, even death to find her in a death realm in the story. Hercules' inability to control his emotions, his impulsivity, is his tragic flaw. Prior to killing his family, Hercules is proud and has no urge to improve himself.

His time was around 1286 bc and people from Greece values temperance, courage, justice, and prudence.

Flaw-He is in love with Padmé Amidala which is not allowed to be a Jedi.

Society-Hayden Christensen (born April 19, 1981) is a Canadian actor and producer.

Passage- This flaw is not a stem from society because this was not something that the society pushed especially the Jedi. The continuation of this lead to the fall of him and the death of his wife.

Flaw: His immediate actions without thinking thoroughly is his tragic flaw and his love for Juliet.

Society: Set in Verona where Capulets and Montegues are against each other in life which causes the two lovers to have a conflict in their relationship.

Passage: Romeo's love for Romeo and commitment to her is somewhat based off of society, because if the families were not in a conflict, then there would be no problem with Romeo and Juliet being together. At the same time, maybe Romeo shouldn’t have acted so impulsively and killing himself.

Flaw - his arrogance, cockiness, and overly confident attitude leads him to the life of being a hero, however it also leads him to his downfall. 

Society - Tony Stark is an American character living in New York, during modern/current times

Passage - Tony Stark’s arrogance and overly confident attitude is a product of the society that he exists in. He develops these characteristics as a result of his father’s abandonment of him. Also, the society that he has been brought up in finds confidence honorable and something to look up to, a leadership quality. This encourages Stark to use those qualities to find a place he will stand out and receive attention in.

Flaw - His ambition and desire for order and control lead him to abandon and kill fellow Jedi, inadvertently kill his own wife, and to join the dark side of the force and become a kind of enforcer for the Emperor. Anakin, as Darth Vader, is alone and full of such shame and self-hatred that he can see no other option but to continue on his path of evil. Also his love for his wife lead him to make wild decisions that contribute to his downfall. 

Society - Anakin Skywalker lives in a fictional world overcome by war and darkness. This war disrupts balance, causing darkness. Order and control are fought over. 

Passage - The society Anakin lives in shapes his flaws and causes his downfall. Also his love for his wife causes him to make irrational decisions to keep her safe at all costs. 

Flaw- He chose was apart of a dog fighting scandal that got him arrested and ruined his career. 

Society- An american football player that came into the league at a time where his style of play wasn’t very popular, changed the game. 

Passage- His ego and his bad decisions caused him to get caught up with the wrong people and the wrong things, he was arrested for dog fighting and gambling.
