Maggie Bailey

Maggie Bailey was a bootlegger from Clovertown, Kentucky who was seen more in the community as a cool grandmother rather than a criminal. She started making alcohol at 17 and carried it on into her old age. She paid for multiple people's schooling and was an overall benifit to their community. Because of this, she was very rarley tried, and on the off chance that she was, the court would typically let her go with a slap on the wrist. She lived to be 101.

Lucky Luciano

Luciano was born in Sicily, Italy in 1897, and he moved to the US when he was 10. He was inducted into the 5 Points Gang in Manhattan and became a bootlegger. He gained his nickname from both being an unnaturally lucky gambler and surviving a gang affiliated assassination attempt.

19th Amendment

After the passing of the 19th amendment tot he constitution in 1919, women gained the right to vote. This changed the landscape of how we as a nation saw issues since women gave a whole new never before seen perspective. The nation also got a morale boost since the majority of people were happy to see their wives be treated fairly.

Women's fashion changed a lot going into the 20's. Women felt more independent and began to dress and show that. They began to wear short hair and dressed and acted somewhat rebellious.

Margaret Sanger

Margaret Sanger was the founder of planned parenthood and was a birth control advocate. Recently though, it was been revealed that she was more of an extreme racist wanting to thin the black population. She tried to act on this by putting a majority of abortion centers in places with higher black populations.

Talkies

Talkies were the next evolution of movies after the silent film. Talkies had synchronized dialogue along with a normally silent film. Often, most of these talking films were very short compared to regular silent films.

Jack Dempsey

Dempsey was a famous boxer during the 20's and was likley the most famous. He was heavyweight champion from 1919-1926 and was voted greatest boxer of the half-century in 1950. He also gave someone for future boxers to look up to and made the sport a lot more popular.

Because cars began to be more commonplace, people began to race them for fun. This lead to the first derby car as well as the first derby. It tested the limits of what the new automobile could do.

The first ever automatic traffic light was invented in 1923 by Garret Morgan. He wanted to prevent traffic jams as well as car crashes. This also made people more comfortable driving cars and buying them for themselves.

These watches were invented by Warren Morrison in 1927 and were more accurate than regular mechanical clocks. This made people more punctual at their jobs since it was almost guaranteed that their watch read the same as their boss's. It also made watches less expensive and thus made them more accessible to the public.

Polygraph Test

The Polygraph was a lie detector that was invented by John Larson that is still used today. These tests were given to inmates, expected spies, and many more suspects. The test itself though is not full proof due to the fact that if the teste stays composed, they will most likely read as telling the truth.

Cypher Machines

These machines were able to both encode and decode messages to make secret messages almost impenetrable. It also saved time since people would not have to decode by hand anymore. It was more on the pricey side, but it was not a huge bother since most of the buyers were governmental entities.

Modern Sunglasses

While technically sunglasses existed before, it wasn't until 1929 that Sam Foster invented what would become the more modern design and way or producing them. This made the price of them drop and made them more assessable to the public. Without this innovation, all sunglasses today would be extremally expensive.
